NOTD–Green Nail Comparisons

It is well documented that as well as being a lipstick fiend, there is more than enough space for ample amounts of nail polish too.
It can’t be just me that despite owning more than I wish to count I end up with several variations of a shade. Lets just say I definitely have a type (or ten).

So after the post about NYC’s Mint Macaroon I was tidying around one day and noticed I had another shade I’d forgotten about that looked similar. And repeat. And repeat.

I figured I’d do a quick comparison while I have time and inclination in case you had some of these or any catch your eye…

Greennail
From L-R these are NYC’s Mint Macaroon, Models Own Jade Stone, Beauty UK unnamed (may be called Jade), China Glaze For Audrey

2 coats of each, the Beauty UK one is still pretty patchy, the other three could of got away with the two coats

China Glaze straight away is the most turquoise of these. It’s one of my favourite polishes and one the boy loves as well! Beauty UK and Models Own are a similar shade but I prefer Models Own and it has a better formula. Plus can you hate something if it has your name in it? Mint Macaroon is a shade on it’s own, a beautiful spring green. I love these kind of shades!

Do you like? Do you own any of these shades? Do you have any more suggestions? I need more polish like a hole in the head but I love it!

NOTD–NYC Mint Macaroon

This whole ‘no nail varnish at work’ shenanigan is getting old fast. It’s depressing when one of the reasons you are excited about having days off work is so you can paint your nails. Especially in summer time when wearing pastels is the law!

A new purchase and current fave is this cheapie courtesy of NYC…

It goes between a minty and a more ‘spring’ green, either way I LOVE IT!! I want to paint just about all of my belongings this colour. Awesome.

This was three easy coats. I could of got away with two were it not for my shoddy painting skillz.
As for the 7 day wear claim? Nada. I wore this for three and it was looking tatty, you can see a chip on my ring finger in the above pictures. However for £2.49 this is a total winner!

Do you get cravings for summery hues? I gladly wear pastels all year round but this is a new fave!

Until next time! x

Blusher Switch Up 2–The Cream Side

Oh herrow! I got home from my night shift, slept till 12 and have been (vaguely) awake since!
As promised these are the cream blushes I have worn over the last two weeks…
2Blush
Ermmm I didn’t take a picture of the outside of these together so here is the collective blusher picture.
3blushNeonRose
Topshop Neon Rose – If you haven’t already checked out Topshop’s makeup I really urge you to especially their lipsticks and blushers. The formulation is great and to use a god awful phrase, they are cheap as chips! As a side note where is David Dickinson these days? His mahogany ass seemed to drop off the face of the earth.
3blushLadyblush
MAC Blushcreme Ladyblush – My first MAC blusher. I love this, it is understated, allowing me to go a little wilder with my lipstick, but still makes me look put together. This is the old formulation, I know they still do a shade called Ladyblush in their new Cremeblend formulation but I’m not sure it’s the same as this one.
3blushFucshia
Stila Convertible Colour Fuschia – I got this in a blog sale and didn’t wear it for aggges, the colour petrified me. Used lightly this is really pretty and not too mad for work.
3blushSouthStSeashell
NYC Blushable Creme Stick South St Seashell – I got this off eBay ages ago. Again it’s really understated and ideal for when I want to wear a crazier lip colour. I wish these would come to the UK!!
3blushBlossomingPink
No7 Blossoming Pink – This was limited edition from a few months ago – however I have seen items from this collection fairly recently in some Boots. As soon as I saw this on the blogs I knew I’d have to have it!
I3blushMandarinFizz
Kiko Waterblush Mandarin Fizz – I have no idea if Kiko still make this as my parents got it for me in Rome last year. This is a liquid blush and though it doesn’t seem that pigmented at first it builds up well – it’s easy to go overboard with this
Swatchessss

L-R Neon Rose, Ladyblush, Fuschia
3blushswaTCH2
South St Seashell, Blossoming Pink, Mandarin Fizz unblended
3blushswatch4
Mandarin Fizz unblended and blended. And my veiny wrist sorry!
I hope you liked this, I know swatch posts can be a bit crap but if you’ve been on the fence about something or looking for a bit of information I hope I help!
A few snippets from this week…

I Don’t Like Space

It’s true. I don’t like it. It’s not just that I don’t like Prof Brian Cox, space is scary. Pretty but scary. No space, no apocalypses. Those are my rules.

Space nails however…..

I did attempt this ages ago and it didn’t go quite as I would of liked, it was pretty and all but not really spacey. It was high time for a mark 2.

And the thousand and one polishes I used for this?

LOL.

Save The Nail’s Toughen Up Basecoat and Wet Look Topcoat. I muuuch prefer this topcoat to the ‘quick dry’ one. In fact, this one dries way quicker, I’d swear they are in the wrong boxes! On the right is MAC Ming Blue, the base, and I then sponged the next few colours over it, started with OPI OPI Ink. If you don’t have it I urge you to look at it, It’s GORGEOUS! My top fave for sure.

SpaceNails8

Next to be sponged was Kiko 267, Essie Lapis of Luxury, Models Own Mystic Mauve and Beauty UK’s unnamed white.

SpaceNails9 SpaceNails10

I dotted ‘planets’ on with George Sunset Orange, China Glaze Gloulish Glow and OPI The Show Must Go On. The ‘stars’ are NYC Lights-Camera-Glitter and China Glaze’s Fairy Dust.

You like?

My final thought of the day…

NOTD–Essie Lapis of Luxury

Hola ladies, how are you all?

I am feeling a teensy bit more like myself now…only in that I am back to painting my nails when they start chipping rather than leaving them until there is barely anything left…..

This is a polish that was out around this time last year. I kind of feel bad about posting things that aren’t current but as I am pretty poor and can’t buy things the minute they come out I don’t have that much choice. Plus, this is an awesome colour I wear pretty regularly and it always cheers me up. It’s still pretty obtainable if you just have a search on this here t’internet.

I use my camera or my phone for photos. Usually a combination as my camera picks up some colours better than my phone and vice versa so I normally end up using a combination that represent the colours best. In this case I wasn’t sure what picked up the colour best so I’m just going to chuck in a load of photos. I picked up NYC’s Expert Lash polish in Lights-Camera-Glitter and put one coat of that on my ring finger.

I then put one coat of OPI’s Absolutely Alice on my other nails….

EssieLapisofLuxury3EssieLapisofLuxury4

It looks a bit patchy close up but from a distance this looks pretty cool.

I need to mix up my polishes more!
