Peepers–Topshop Bold Liner

Hello ladies!

For once I’m trying to be on the ball and get this post out while there is a chance these badboys might be on sale in a Topshop near you…

When I first picked these up I was unsure if they were pencil or liquid of the felt tip kind. I was kind of hoping for the latter as I love the look of liquid liner but find it a bugger to apply, it always gets over my eyelashes and is basically a pain in the arse. However these turned out to be the pencil kind…

There were no testers so I just grabbed what was there, at £2 each I wasn’t really that bothered if they turned out to be crap.

I wore Burnish today, my first time wearing brown liner woop!

I wore a little along my lash line and smudged under the outer corner of my lower lash line for a bit of daytime smokiness. you can’t tell that much as this is about 9 hours after application but I am wearing MAC Paint Pot in Painterly, Urban Decay Sin over the lid, Chopper in the crease and Smog at the outer edge, Burnish along the lash line and a combination of Revlon Grow Luscious and 17’s Photo Finish mascaras. It is still (just) visible and I don’t think that is too bad for a hastily applied pencil when I was half awake this morning!

I say for £2 it’s worth snapping these up if you see them. I am unsure of the other colours and as I said there were no testers but for £2….why not?

NOTD/Rookie Attempt At Nail Art…

Argh after three weeks of not being able to paint my nails it feels AWESOME to be able to do it again. I find it so relaxing, whenever I’m feeling shafty I crack out a bottle and get painting. God, I sound like an addict. Dah well, better than crack I suppose.

In my last post I showed I FINALLY managed to get my paws on a Models Own nail art pen, after wondering on twitter the other week where they had got to. I swear when they came out last year the plan was that they would eventually have one in every colour? Anyway, after never noticing it before the black one was at Boots and after dithering about what to do on my nails to mark this momentous occasion I ended up with a bit of a mish mash.

For this I used old faithful Barry M’s Berry Ice Cream and relatively new purchase Milani 3D Holographic in Hi-Res. Due to lack of sunshine the holo wasn’t that easy to photograph but you can get the gist….

I am still trying to get the hang of the nail art pen which is why some of the lines and leopard print look a little wonky and I also managed to smudge some of the leopard print but you live and learn! I have the patience of a saint at times but when it comes to knobhead drivers and nail polish drying it goes out of the window!

What do you think? Have you used any nail art pens? If so which ones? I am loving the easiness of these and really hope Models Own haven’t shelved the colour options!

Do you have any ideas for other nail art? I want to try more!

When The Going Gets Tough…

I am 23 years old, soon to be 24. I have been going through some tough times lately and if there is one thing that I have learnt about myself, (other than I am the sane one and everyone else is a knob) it’s that when the going gets tough, the tough go shopping. It is called retail therapy for a reason yes?

I have been on my elective placement up north staying in a b&b away from my family, a load of other crap was happening, my rabbit is ill and is having an operation on Monday…..tits up I believe is the phrase. Anyway, I’m back home now and have a summer job to provide me with makeup/holiday monies until I find me a proper job. I wish x-rays were as much fun as lipstick.

Onto the goodies!!

That’s not even all of it. I hasten to add this was over a few weeks and it did help my fedupness even if I haven’t had a chance to play with most of this yet!

The polishes…

L-R Models Own Nail Art Pen in Black, China Glaze Sea Spray, OPI Suzi Says Feng Shui, OPI Reflecting Pool, Maybelline Deep Violet and Maybelline Flash Cosmic

I also got one of those Nails Inc polishes with 2 Dove deodorants, the coral one in Copacabana I think. However in typical me packing/unpacking style I can’t for the life of me find it. It’s in my room somewhere, exactly where is anyone’s guess.

Other Boots/Superdrug purchases…

Clockwise from bottom L – Collection 2000 Pure Gloss in Sorbet, Bourjois Effet 3D Max lipgloss in 62 Rose Gold, Beauty UK Pearl Eyeliner in Eclipse, Bourjois Delice de Soleil Bronzing Powder in 12 for fair/medium skin, Sleek Aruba Blush, Natural Collection Moisture Shine lipsticks in Rose Petal, Pink Mallow and Apple Blossom, MUA matte eyeshadow in Shade 19, Bourjois Delice de Soleil Bronzing Spray in 12 for medium skin and Collection 2000 Lasting Colour lipsticks in Orange Punch and Sweet Tart.

Phew! Most of this was on special offer so I didn’t pay that much for it, I have yet to use any of this aside from the Bourjois gloss which I cracked open today along with the MUA shadow to do me brows and I’ve swatched (and broken one of) the Natural Collection lipsticks.

Clockwise from bottom L Polish in Melba, Blush in Head Over Heels, Lipstick in Ooh La La, Skin Tint in Fair, Liner in Ravine and Steely, Bold Liner in Graphite and Burnish, Polish in Coral.

Most of this was half price in the sale, only the three items at the back were full price.

I am sure I will cover this in more detail at some point, I was hoping to take some pictures today but the sky has been so disgustingly grey and overcast that photos are looking pretty poor. If you would like a closer look at anything please let me know in the comments! If there is anything I missed out that I find I will add. I do have the Sleek Monaco palette somewhere but everyone and their mother has blogged about that so I didn’t go out of my way to find it.

Onwards and upwards…………

NOTD/Teal Polish Comparison

Hi ladies! I hope all is well with you, being on placement is hardcore, I’m consistently shattered!

My polish collection is now around 150, pretty out of control. Now if I see anything I want I am really trying to make sure that I don’t have anything similar. I am also trying to make sure that I use all of my polishes, not just the newest ones. So I ended up using OPI’s Yodel Me On My Cell from last years Swiss collection. I got the minis of this along with Lucerne-tainly Look Marvellous that I showed you a few weeks ago and a red one, maybe Color So Hot It Berns? I have only worn this one once before and teal is one of my favourite colours so I thought it was high time I cracked it out again.

This was three coats and it could of even had another one, in some lights I could see visible nail line. Regardless it is a really pretty colour. I feel such a geek having labelled all of my OPI minis but I hate how it doesn’t have the colour on it! I would forget within 4 seconds of purchase what the colour was if I didn’t have it on there somewhere, especially with my Burlesque minis where the shades are all kinda similar.

As this was from last year I’m not sure on it’s availability any more. I thought I’d have a little rummage through my collection and see if I could find something similar.

So you can see I don’t have anything especially close in my collection. Teal Or No Teal and Goddess both required two coats for opacity. Teal Or No Teal is lighter but still shimmery and is a beautiful colour and Goddess is nothing like Yodel Me On My Cell or Teal Or No Teal. It is waaay more greener than either of the other two but I haven’t ever worn it and it’s green, it could fit maybe a little bit…..?

The only thing with the OPI minis is they are actually tiny and even though I have only worn this twice, with it taking three coats I have already made a sizeable dent in the bottle. The same with the Katy Perry minis. Sadface.

I got the OPI from the mini set at Sally’s, Wet n Wild my Gran got for me from her holiday and Accessorize was from Superdrug.

What do you think? Do you have any favourite teals?

Final US eBay NOTD–China Glaze High Hopes

This is my final polish from the US eBay order I made a few weeks ago. It’s taken me long enough to get these up let alone the 12 or so polish purchases I’ve made in recent weeks! I should be restrained. Though that being said quite a few of the polishes are ones I’ve had my eye on for months at the very least.

Argh it was a pain in the arse to photograph. The photo without flash best represents the shade, the flash makes it look more red than coral. This is one of my favourite polishes, since it arrived a few weeks ago I have had it on either my fingers or toes. It looks bright and summery on my pale casper hands but I think it would also look amazing on darker skin tones. I’m going to (fake) tan the hell out of my pasty self this week and I bet it will look ace on my tanned (clearly orange, they always go orange) feet.

Do you have any other China Glaze recommendations? I know they have a million shades out there but I don’t have the first clue where to look and usually rely on eBay as postage from some of the proper sites is massive in comparison!!!

Small Cherry Culture Haulage….

So when I say I have too many nail polishes and I need to stop spending etc etc etc I’m not joking. I need to save for a holiday amongst other things, off to EuroDisney in August with a little Amsterdam jaunt squidged in hopefully then fingers crossed a girlie holiday in September…..

So I have no idea why I made this small Cherry Culture order the other week other than I have wanted the Milani 3D Holographic polishes for aggggges, actual ages and I finally cracked. The LA Colors set was on sale and I haven’t tried any of their polishes yet, does anyone know where they are available in the UK? If at all? I’ve yet to try these but swatches will be up as soon as I do!

This is the Intense Nail Collection in Explosive. There were a few other ones on the site but the teal and purple stood out to me. I’m a little bit frightened of the orange but I don’t have anything like it so I will see what it looks like on. The Cherry Culture swatches are renowned for being awful and this is no exception, the orange appears as a peachy orange on the site, in real life it is highlighter. This was $3.49.

L-R Cyberspace, Hi-Res and Digital

I would have picked up all of these had funds allowed but instead I got the prettier colours I was more interested in. Again the swatches aren’t amazing but as I have seen a ton of swatches of these hence the lemming, I knew what I was getting. These were $4.99 each.

So far I have worn Cyberspace, it is amazing. I love holos and this is no exception.

The last picture is outside the pub, thats my cider you can see : )

I don’t know how I feel about Cherry Culture’s service, shipping cost about 50 cents less than my total order and it took a week for it to be packed and dispatched, then another week for it to arrive. It was well packed and everything but I have paid a hell of a lot less shipping for a hell or a lot more from other sites before and packing has never been that long. Unless there is a great sale or something I really need, I’m not sure its worth the hassle again.

What do you think? Have you used Cherry Culture before and what was your experience? Can you recommend any other sites?

NOTD–China Glaze Heli-Yum

Hola hombres! A quickie again today, just a few pictures of one of my China Glaze purchases I mentioned a few weeks ago.

I was kinda unsure about this one, I had my eye on it for a while but I wasn’t sure it was a colour I’d wear that often. It is pretty red which I hate on me but it pulls more cherry red making it wearable.

On my camera these looked like they photographed completely awfully but it actually looks ok, maybe a bit too pink in the pictures with flash but the main elements are right.

This was two coats with top coat, sadly it only lasted a day due to my job, it will definitely be coming out of the polish drawer pretty soon though!
