Just a quick post today showing you a few blushers I’ve been reaching for the past couple of post-move weeks! For work I need something long-lasting and I use either powder or cream blusher depending on what formula of foundation I’m wearing so I like to have options of both! I’ve yet to unpack all my cosmetics yet, partly because I need to find some cute containers to put things in but mostly because if I unleash my collection all at once in front of me or the boy it is likely to induce some sort of cardiac event.</p> <p>Anyway, on to the blusher we go!</p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-K5gvuhO9Ipc/UUXgoXmFVzI/AAAAAAAAC5I/FJrFzZQrY68/s1600-h/currentfavesblusher%25255B4%25255D.png"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="currentfavesblusher" border="0" alt="currentfavesblusher" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-MctzxGLZZjU/UUXgqedoIQI/AAAAAAAAC5Q/DkYLduWP7-s/currentfavesblusher_thumb%25255B2%25255D.png?imgmax=800" width="402" height="380"></a></p> <p>Ladyblush, Glow and Lush Nectarine have all graced the posts of this blog before at some point or another. Tremble is a relatively new purchase occurring late last year and it has quickly become a firm favourite! Firstly my favourite thing about all these blushers is that they last all day without fading. I’m pale and can look deceased without blusher so I need something to perk up my cheeks! Secondly, the formula on all are pigmented and easy to blend. I start with the tiniest amount and work my way up as all of them have the potential to look over the top if you just barge in there with a loaded brush….</p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-AlTW04qgODs/UUXguGIwO0I/AAAAAAAAC5Y/DFe8PAkPbw0/s1600-h/currentfavesladyblush%25255B5%25255D.png"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="currentfavesladyblush" border="0" alt="currentfavesladyblush" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-pQwBctHFmVs/UUXgvuvdiNI/AAAAAAAAC5g/5fsfvQd7tko/currentfavesladyblush_thumb%25255B3%25255D.png?imgmax=800" width="267" height="269"></a></p> <p><strong>Ladyblush </strong>I know, I know, I need to stop banging on about this, especially as the formula and possibly shade has been discontinued. It just goes with everything, if I’m ever unsure of what blusher to wear, 9 times out of 10 it will end up being this.</p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-oqDjkfNnYMo/UUXgzRKvIpI/AAAAAAAAC5o/qjNVnMdj2xE/s1600-h/currentfavesglow%25255B4%25255D.png"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="currentfavesglow" border="0" alt="currentfavesglow" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-PiCmWW1DpLE/UUXg02ccXyI/AAAAAAAAC5w/CQVB-izaCKk/currentfavesglow_thumb%25255B2%25255D.png?imgmax=800" width="263" height="277"></a></p> <p><strong>Glow </strong>This has been in my collection for a while and is much loved. On me this is a perky pink and the closest of all to the actual shade I go when I blush. In fact, if I go overboard this does make me look like something awfully embarrassing has just happened to me.</p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-d39I1qc_V6o/UUXg4ksYghI/AAAAAAAAC54/4_YgBinKhXc/s1600-h/currentfaveslushnectarine%25255B4%25255D.png"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="currentfaveslushnectarine" border="0" alt="currentfaveslushnectarine" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-S-a9jf7gATM/UUXg69zM7uI/AAAAAAAAC6A/JrT8M3KDT30/currentfaveslushnectarine_thumb%25255B2%25255D.png?imgmax=800" width="258" height="254"></a></p> <p><strong>Lush Nectarine </strong>This was kind of purchased on a whim, I had my eye on it for a while and went into Harvey Nichols in Bristol and the only counter lady that would talk to me (bar the SpaceNK counter, they are always lovely) was on Laura Mercier. I’m such a sucker, all it took was a nice lady and I dropped a bomb at that counter! I’m glad though, this is a beauty.</p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-p2cB6Ll97yY/UUXg-hkcUbI/AAAAAAAAC6I/2z0ozGQ1g6c/s1600-h/currentfavestremble%25255B4%25255D.png"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="currentfavestremble" border="0" alt="currentfavestremble" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-G3OBsRrToZw/UUXhAGsOcqI/AAAAAAAAC6Q/_g6u-pmzw0Y/currentfavestremble_thumb%25255B2%25255D.png?imgmax=800" width="257" height="242"></a></p> <p><strong>Tremble </strong>I don’t own a whole lot of Illamasqua but what I do have, I love. This is no exception, a corally pinky shade of amazingness. This is another you have to watch out for pigment wise!</p> <p><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-KAWu-tx9xDc/UUXhDpJ_98I/AAAAAAAAC6Y/8vovYpxYOe0/s1600-h/currentfavesswatches%25255B5%25255D.png"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="currentfavesswatches" border="0" alt="currentfavesswatches" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-_xSaWLROhz8/UUXhFRfpzAI/AAAAAAAAC6g/1UT5H81HUC0/currentfavesswatches_thumb%25255B3%25255D.png?imgmax=800" width="445" height="373"></a></p> <p>I hope you like! Blusher is my crack so if you can recommend any long lasting formulas let me know!</p> Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-789298785405867957.post-68764646937003802252013-03-21T14:25:00.000+00:002013-03-21T14:25:00.155+00:00Review–Osmo Extreme Volume Thickening Creme<p>Hey hey! </p> <p>I hope your having a good week ladies, I feel like I’ve definitely been living for the weekend these past few weeks! Being back working 9-5 is not all it’s cracked up to be…</p> <p>Anyway on to the beauty! There’s a few bits I’ve been using that are on their way out so I wanted to get proper reviews done before they pop their clogs and this is numero uno right here!</p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-V0g9kBA9ot4/UUXSbAfAC7I/AAAAAAAAC4Q/0CEvJLmRDZ8/s1600-h/osmo_extreme_volume%25255B5%25255D.png"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="osmo_extreme_volume" border="0" alt="osmo_extreme_volume" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-4uUzW1ST404/UUXSccO5gsI/AAAAAAAAC4Y/v0KP6DCJDDI/osmo_extreme_volume_thumb%25255B3%25255D.png?imgmax=800" width="206" height="444"></a></p> <p><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-_vKhTXbwNhM/UUXSg5q0VII/AAAAAAAAC4g/e-PowF-5rEQ/s1600-h/osmo_extreme_volume1%25255B5%25255D.png"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="osmo_extreme_volume1" border="0" alt="osmo_extreme_volume1" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-UGhhOTAoxnw/UUXSioFjQnI/AAAAAAAAC4o/Fe06By0G4i4/osmo_extreme_volume1_thumb%25255B3%25255D.png?imgmax=800" width="405" height="272"></a></p> <p>I’ve been using this tube of goodness for about a year now and it’s almost gone. My thin, soft-as-hell-as-soon-as-you-wash-it-until-it-becomes-a-birds-nest hair needs a bit of discipline in the form of my hair dryer and some thickening product to make it look like I actually, um, have some. I’ve tried a myriad of thickening and volumising products and have formed a few favourites, of which this is one.</p> <p>The packaging is great, everyone loves tubes and this is easy to dispense without it going everywhere. Though sold as a creme I would say this has a bit of gel about it too, it’s a little sticky on the hands but not in the hair and you don’t need a lot to create a whole mother load of volume! </p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-zjTBZfCkTP0/UUXSlknKcgI/AAAAAAAAC4w/Y9lECDxwFHs/s1600-h/osmo_extreme_volume2%25255B4%25255D.png"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="osmo_extreme_volume2" border="0" alt="osmo_extreme_volume2" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-VhxOfYmWzoQ/UUXSnA-VrtI/AAAAAAAAC44/44bttOiNNZI/osmo_extreme_volume2_thumb%25255B2%25255D.png?imgmax=800" width="311" height="299"></a></p> <p>This is probably about half to two thirds as much as I’d use on my whole head. I rub it between my hands then ruffle it about at the roots of towel dried hair before blow drying upside down and using a round brush if I can be arsed. It adds volume <em>and </em>texture so while you can feel there is something in your hair it is weightless and doesn’t make hair lank and greasy the next day. In my hair this feels very similar to the TIGI Catwalk Root Boost Spray.</p> <p>All in all, I really like this. When washed my hair is so soft you can’t do anything with it, this adds long-lasting volume and ‘grit’ so I can actually style it! I don’t feel like I need to wash my hair the next day and it’s pretty purse friendly too! Repurchase fo sho.</p> <p>I got this from <a href="http://www.feelunique.com/p/Osmo-Essence-Extreme-Volume-Thickening-Creme-150ml">Feel Unique</a> where it is currently £7.40 but I have also seen Osmo stocked at Sally’s if you’d like to peruse in store.</p> <p>Do you have any thickening products you’d recommend? I’m all ears! </p> Unknownnoreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-789298785405867957.post-84068422847184569802013-03-18T15:26:00.000+00:002013-03-18T15:26:00.684+00:00Worky Time Must Haves<p>Well hello!! I’m trying really hard to pull my finger out and blog some but these overcast northern skies are trying their hardest to screw me over! Luckily a day off (already?! Yes my car died on me….fab!) meant I could grab the teensy bit of light and take some snaps.</p> <p>If you don’t already know from my perpetual whinging about the state of my hands I work in a hospital. It’s pretty manic so I spend a lot of the time running around like a headless chicken between the arctic conditions of my department and the sauna-like existence of others. This means I spend a good portion of the day sweating (grim!) but freezing the next moment, all of which is bad news for my skin and makeup longevity.</p> <p>Luckily I’ve found a few goodies I’ve come to rely upon along the way…</p> <p><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-CJSUuaHZ8UE/UT9JdV_u2oI/AAAAAAAACzg/neREyTZF4vM/s1600-h/workmusthaves%25255B5%25255D.png"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="workmusthaves" border="0" alt="workmusthaves" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-64nW5-LFHBY/UT9JgaSY8qI/AAAAAAAACzo/w5e1U4rqHNs/workmusthaves_thumb%25255B3%25255D.png?imgmax=800" width="516" height="295"></a></p> <p><font size="1">L-R MAC Blushcreme Ladyblush, Kleenex Shine Absorbing Sheets, Wet N Wild Eyeshadow Fine Wine, Sure Maximum Protection Confidence, Make Up For Ever Aqua Brow 25 Ash, Aveeno Hand Cream, Make Up For Ever Face & Body 38, Eyedew Dazzling Eye Drops</font></p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-nvkew9PKs8o/UT9Jmhk-5KI/AAAAAAAACzw/SKpgJ7cbyz8/s1600-h/workmusthaveladyblush%25255B4%25255D.png"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="workmusthaveladyblush" border="0" alt="workmusthaveladyblush" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-nbNUKvjBO4g/UT9JpAfuPcI/AAAAAAAACz4/wFGiNirzZiE/workmusthaveladyblush_thumb%25255B2%25255D.png?imgmax=800" width="233" height="293"></a></p> <p><strong>MAC Blushcreme Ladyblush</strong> I got this before the formula of MAC cream blushers was changed…they do still have a shade called Ladyblush but I’m not sure it’s the same one! I love cream formulas and this one is a winner, it stays put all day long and the shade is really natural.</p> <p><strong>Kleenex Shine Absorbing Sheets </strong>If you haven’t tried these you must! I had never found a blotting sheet I liked before these, a lot claim to remove excess oil without disturbing makeup but these deliver. They are always on offer too.</p> <p><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-ooLLPTUh-1g/UT9Jx4FgX0I/AAAAAAAAC0A/YE6NEAKkAJ8/s1600-h/workmusthavesfinewine%25255B4%25255D.png"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="workmusthavesfinewine" border="0" alt="workmusthavesfinewine" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-yBr-XIpTdZI/UT9JzUpb7oI/AAAAAAAAC0I/58rjZgsf28A/workmusthavesfinewine_thumb%25255B2%25255D.png?imgmax=800" width="238" height="252"></a></p> <p><strong>Wet N Wild Eyeshadow Fine Wine </strong>Again I’m not sure where you can get this, I picked up a load back in the day when Wet N Wild was sold at Tesco. For a quid you can’t do much better, the formula is smooth and creamy and stays all day with maybe a bit of minor creasing at the end of the day. That’s without a primer mind, I’m on my last one of these and when it dies I’ll be gutted!</p> <p><strong>Sure Maximum Protection Deodorant </strong>Is something I saw a lot of posts about at the time of it’s release and wasn’t sold on. However a while later I was desperate for a deodorant that really did the business and this does. I don’t faff with applying at night though, I do every morning and it works fine.</p> <p><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/--Y_tzd7duuk/UT9J3xkQEdI/AAAAAAAAC0Q/dgxX7OEutWA/s1600-h/workmusthavesmufe%25255B5%25255D.png"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="workmusthavesmufe" border="0" alt="workmusthavesmufe" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-HXEUmc9cQLc/UT9J5Xk-wUI/AAAAAAAAC0Y/w76vBRfQGes/workmusthavesmufe_thumb%25255B3%25255D.png?imgmax=800" width="146" height="281"></a></p> <p><strong>Make Up For Ever Aqua Brow 25 Ash </strong>Is a fairly new purchase but a goodie, finally my eyebrows stay in place all day. The colour is slightly off, I could have probably gone a shade darker but it blends fine and I’m not bothered if they don’t move!</p> <p><strong>Aveeno Hand Cream </strong>Is my favourite of the minute. It contains oatmeal but be aware that <em>doesn’t </em>mean it smells like Hobnobs. Sad face. If your hands are an old lady mess like mine then try this.</p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-6VOMBRqhMIM/UT9J9-4vMOI/AAAAAAAAC0g/jMTlKC1qkNE/s1600-h/workmusthavesmufefb%25255B5%25255D.png"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="workmusthavesmufefb" border="0" alt="workmusthavesmufefb" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-ZpeX9xmj-Yw/UT9J_zhdAYI/AAAAAAAAC0o/PtfCzafKPOM/workmusthavesmufefb_thumb%25255B3%25255D.png?imgmax=800" width="235" height="326"></a></p> <p><strong>Make Up For Ever Face & Body 38 </strong>I’m on my second bottle of this. It gives a really light coverage, enough to even skin tone but not enough to skip concealing. My favourite thing about it though is that it lasts. Even if it does fade it does evenly so no weird patches or flaky bits! Best foundation <em>ever!</em></p> <p><strong>Eyedew Dazzling Eye Drops </strong>Can’t be beaten to wake you up in the morning! When I’m tired my eyes go red and hot and I look like I’ve been on the wacky baccy. These sort that out!</p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-Wq8WxRLmRTA/UT9Lx17vvXI/AAAAAAAAC0w/OE7qdLKhaEo/s1600-h/workmusthaveswatches%25255B4%25255D.png"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="workmusthaveswatches" border="0" alt="workmusthaveswatches" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-x9qwcIq7Yoo/UT9L0P_NMGI/AAAAAAAAC04/cTrWi_izWUc/workmusthaveswatches_thumb%25255B2%25255D.png?imgmax=800" width="348" height="312"></a></p> <p>What a woolly mammoth post that was! This is just a quickie today on a skincare goodie I’ve been loving the past few weeks!</p> <p>I’ve ranted and raved on here before about Nuxe’s Creme Etincelante, it was truly a fantastic night cream, may it rest in peace, but unobtainable in the UK. Since it’s demise last year I was stuck for a rejuvenating night cream that would live up to the legend of Etincelante. After seeing <a href="http://www.sailorjennie.com/2012/09/skincare-ren-resurfacing-aha-concentrate.html">this post</a> over at Sailboat I was sold, my first foray into much hailed REN skincare it was. </p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-yLzJAhTJV7I/UT9VEtk4kaI/AAAAAAAAC1A/YW_DBikpcP0/s1600-h/renresurfacingconcentrate%25255B5%25255D.png"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="renresurfacingconcentrate" border="0" alt="renresurfacingconcentrate" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-Uz6I1M0fnRc/UT9VF_X6HjI/AAAAAAAAC1I/5g7xnMDhZg8/renresurfacingconcentrate_thumb%25255B3%25255D.png?imgmax=800" width="227" height="379"></a></p> <p>REN’s Resurfacing AHA Concentrate claims to <em>“Gently exfoliate so skin appears radiant, even toned and smoothed. Reduces the appearance of pores size and fine lines. Improves moisture retention and the efficacy of your skincare routine.” </em></p> <p>In a nutshell, I would agree with all of those statements. I use this every other night and follow with either La Roche Posay’s Effaclar Duo or Origins Make A Difference Plus + Treatment and the following morning all the flaky bits down the side of my nose are gone (urgh!) and my skin is generally more radiant. Since using this my pores have been bothering me less and my forehead doesn’t feel anywhere as dehydrated as it used to. I also haven’t had nearly as many issues with redness and flaking as I normally do in winter and I think that can be largely attributed to this! </p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-A8n0RqqsaCw/UT9VJUY_3gI/AAAAAAAAC1Q/YgV_UOsI3FI/s1600-h/renresurfacing1%25255B6%25255D.png"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="renresurfacing1" border="0" alt="renresurfacing1" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-g1UuuiGQO9U/UT9VK93UeZI/AAAAAAAAC1Y/9v3kygeT1TQ/renresurfacing1_thumb%25255B4%25255D.png?imgmax=800" width="380" height="302"></a> </p> <p>I give it a little shake then empty and refill the pipette so I’m getting newly mixed product then apply all over my face with the remainder down my neck. I don’t experience any tingling that it does warn may happen but I don’t have sensitive skin. </p> <p>The glass bottle is pretty classy and as a science nerd at school anything with pipettes make me feel like I need to wear those shocking goggles. Ahh nostalgia.</p> <p>The price is the only thing that put me off buying this at first – at £30 for 30ml it certainly doesn’t appear to be a bargain. Kiko Goodies…<p>Evening ladies! Jaysus I need to stop spending the £$£$£, not even on stuff for my face just full stop! Moving up north has thrown up all kinds of final payments topped with a dead car has left my purse empty. Despite a mothballed purse I still struggle to ignore a 20% off Kiko deal…topped with free shipping on your first order to avoid the hefty £5.90 shipping and I’m suckered in.</p> <p>A problem shared is a problem halved and all that so here’s the goods!</p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-1OnwxcKIJWQ/UT-QBz-JRfI/AAAAAAAAC1o/yPQ81P06SnA/s1600-h/kikohaul%25255B5%25255D.png"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="kikohaul" border="0" alt="kikohaul" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-z_qXcPUqSUU/UT-QDns2JDI/AAAAAAAAC1w/wQPg905eq1k/kikohaul_thumb%25255B3%25255D.png?imgmax=800" width="353" height="365"></a></p> <p>This little lost cost me just over £25. I hope you all had a good start to the week.</p> <p>My Monday has been spent giving blood and preparing for the first day of my new job tomorrow! Eek!</p> <p> </p> <p>I picked up this mascara in <a href="http://on-the-lash.blogspot.co.uk/2012/09/holiday-hauling.html">Amsterdam</a> but only started using it at around Christmas time. It’s now on it’s way out so I figured I’d get a quick post in there before it finally bites the dust!</p> <p> </p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-HVkT_km_yLM/UTTXGfgE2vI/AAAAAAAACyI/15i_SjJnL-k/s1600-h/YvesRocherSexyPulp%25255B4%25255D.png"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="YvesRocherSexyPulp" border="0" alt="YvesRocherSexyPulp" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-F6AzvRK75sY/UTTXHpR5m5I/AAAAAAAACyQ/xaye4Cu3a38/YvesRocherSexyPulp_thumb%25255B2%25255D.png?imgmax=800" width="280" height="377"></a></p> <p><strong>Yves Rocher Sexy Pulp Ultra-Volume Mascara </strong>I got this in the Amsterdam store, in the UK it is available <a href="http://www.yves-rocher.co.uk/control/product/~category_id=2210/~pcategory=2000/~product_id=W87489?cmSrc=Category">online</a> for £16.90, currently on offer for £8.95</p> <p> </p> <p>I first read about this mascara on a blog I can’t remember absolute yonks ago. It didn’t pique my interest enough to buy online but when I spotted the shop in the Dam I grabbed it quick!</p> <p>It’s housed in a smart dark purple tube, pretty standard so far. Upon opening however you are greeted with this mahoosive bad boy!</p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-rJFTFB3wn7s/UTTXJxYeQ0I/AAAAAAAACyY/T5T87J7dm6I/s1600-h/YvesRocherSexyPulp1%25255B6%25255D.png"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="YvesRocherSexyPulp1" border="0" alt="YvesRocherSexyPulp1" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-kDJMIMHV2j4/UTTXLCW-OhI/AAAAAAAACyg/PHrFV4RG-Pw/YvesRocherSexyPulp1_thumb%25255B4%25255D.png?imgmax=800" width="362" height="210"></a></p> <p>I did do a quick comparison picture with the other mascaras I currently have, all are plastic bristled though but you get the idea…</p> <p><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-hEnyHf3EagU/UTTXOWOzg6I/AAAAAAAACyo/0GYHvLIjHJo/s1600-h/YvwsRocherSexyPulp2%25255B5%25255D.png"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="YvwsRocherSexyPulp2" border="0" alt="YvwsRocherSexyPulp2" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-1rmqe77EGQk/UTTXPhutjwI/AAAAAAAACyw/m3wXrAltAo8/YvwsRocherSexyPulp2_thumb%25255B3%25255D.png?imgmax=800" width="254" height="355"></a></p> <p>It’s pretty ginormous. I personally don’t struggle with big brushes but if you do have issues with the likes of Benefit’s Bad Gal then you might want to give this one a wide berth.</p> <p>Formula wise, it’s forte is <em>definitely </em>volumising over lengthening. It doesn’t create a clumpy one lash mess though – my lashes are kept nicely defined. The formula is really buildable too, the odd lashes might require a comb-through but I am particularly fussy about this. If I do feel like adding a little more length I just brush through the tips of my lashes, this boosts the length minus the clumping.</p> <p> <a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-nRdwCq4cVc8/UTTXTDwHlyI/AAAAAAAACy4/yFW4r4IeLQ0/s1600-h/YvesRocherSexyPulp3%25255B5%25255D.png"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="YvesRocherSexyPulp3" border="0" alt="YvesRocherSexyPulp3" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-5Xr2bk0TLPc/UTTXUdsQ6tI/AAAAAAAACzA/qK2GJP2vvT4/YvesRocherSexyPulp3_thumb%25255B3%25255D.png?imgmax=800" width="268" height="268"></a> <a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-N_keFtb78VM/UTTXX54OgFI/AAAAAAAACzI/Q6nntGTygkM/s1600-h/YvesRocherSexyPulp4%25255B5%25255D.png"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="YvesRocherSexyPulp4" border="0" alt="YvesRocherSexyPulp4" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-9pgFmvwinIg/UTTXZB1qsyI/AAAAAAAACzQ/lhJXlykJf0M/YvesRocherSexyPulp4_thumb%25255B3%25255D.png?imgmax=800" width="241" height="267"></a></p> <p>This holds a curl pretty well too – especially as I have my fringe covering half my face all day. I do have one issue though that I don’t usually suffer with. Smudging. It happened the first time I wore this so I put it to the back of my stash only to love the effect it has on my lashes. I’ve been keeping this as my weekend/day off mascara for this reason and it’s been fine until recently now its on it’s way out. </p> <p>Would I repurchase? Yes, I do really like this mascara and if it wasn’t for the smudging it would be top fave material. </p> <p> </p> <p>What do you think? Do you have any mascara suggestions? I never know which ones are any good so generally buy blind in Superdrug or Boots and end up disappointed!</p> Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-789298785405867957.post-67895172445607577502013-03-01T15:03:00.001+00:002013-03-01T15:03:24.046+00:00I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream For Eye Cream!<p>Happy Friday! The move up north has happened and this week has been a mess of boxes and socks. I’m still fannying around with finding ideal lighting conditions but posting should commence soon! </p> <p> </p> <p>I thought I’d post about something I haven’t seen a great deal about but I’ve been using for a few months now and quite like…</p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-gu4n7fpYzcE/UTDDE7G0uMI/AAAAAAAACxQ/kE-j2kSxNjY/s1600-h/S%252526GMakeYourselfYouthful%25255B4%25255D.png"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="S&GMakeYourselfYouthful" border="0" alt="S&GMakeYourselfYouthful" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-KIV44Nl_QP8/UTDDGQDOJtI/AAAAAAAACxY/SXo901dJGgs/S%252526GMakeYourselfYouthful_thumb%25255B2%25255D.png?imgmax=800" width="266" height="363"></a></p> <p> <a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-MXge8uQgg8w/UTDDIqfCebI/AAAAAAAACxg/ELv-NLK903c/s1600-h/S%252526GMakeYourselfYouthful1%25255B5%25255D.png"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="S&GMakeYourselfYouthful1" border="0" alt="S&GMakeYourselfYouthful1" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-kAxquXQihHE/UTDDJ8Ie4DI/AAAAAAAACxo/Usef45GUV3I/S%252526GMakeYourselfYouthful1_thumb%25255B3%25255D.png?imgmax=800" width="257" height="364"></a></p> <p>The writing on this thing makes it such a pain to photograph! </p> <p><strong>Soap & Glory Make Yourself Youthful Eye Cream </strong>£12 from <a href="http://www.boots.com/en/Soap-Glory%C2%99-Make-Yourself-Youthful%C2%99-Eye-Cream-Anti-wrinkle-Eye-Cream-15ml_1160696/">Boots</a></p> <p>I picked this up a few months ago in Boots after needing a new night-time eye cream. I didn’t really have a clue what I wanted and perused the Soap & Glory skincare stand after hearing a few good things about their products. Nothing in particular drew me to this, more the shabby selection in my old local Boots but I’ve been pretty pleased with it. It claims to give you <em>‘fresher, tighter, brighter eyes’</em>.</p> <p>Firstly, the packaging. It comes with a pump which is pretty great and it’s sturdy so I don’t fret about it bursting if I take it away. One pump of this dispenses enough product for both eyes. It’s a pet hate of mine when products have a pump but dispense a completely inappropriate amount of product, what’s the point!</p> <p><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-tRE7FVDWSA8/UTDDNKeizgI/AAAAAAAACxw/heTq3cZ64as/s1600-h/S%252526GMakeYourselfYouthful2%25255B4%25255D.png"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="S&GMakeYourselfYouthful2" border="0" alt="S&GMakeYourselfYouthful2" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-zgXUigcvglE/UTDDOgyhF0I/AAAAAAAACx4/woYZjuM6ta4/S%252526GMakeYourselfYouthful2_thumb%25255B2%25255D.png?imgmax=800" width="321" height="280"></a></p> <p>This is a pretty light cream that sinks in quickly. It leaves my eye area feeling moisturised but not overloaded and heavy. It brightens but not in the ‘shimmer everywhere’ way that some eye creams can do. After using this nightly for several months I do feel like it has tightened my undereye area a little but brightened? No. Nonetheless it is a nice eye cream. </p> <p>My only real minus is it doesn’t contain SPF which I am making an effort to use in the daytime at the moment, hence the night time use. Other than that it’s a nice eye cream, affordable (especially as S&G skincare is frequently on offer) and available in Boots.</p> <p>Have you tried any Soap & Glory skincare? Do you have any recommendations?</p> Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-789298785405867957.post-63259132823723378472013-02-01T22:29:00.001+00:002013-02-01T22:29:38.316+00:00Empties 0113<p>Oh, herrow! Long time no speak…..</p> <p>Put simply, I need a hobby. I like my blog, I like speaking/preaching to people about beauty stuff and I need to sort my life out and make more of an effort. A move up north in the next few weeks to a house with actual LIGHT THAT COMES IN WINDOWS AND STUFF rather than this pitch black flat will hopefully make it easier to take photos! I need <em>something</em> to do when the boy is playing Borderlands…..</p> <p>To ease myself back into things here’s a teensy post featuring the stuff I’ve managed to finish this month. I hate moving with a passion and just the very thought that one thing I use up is one thing less to take is making this easier. All pictures were taken on my phone so are crap.</p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-YN9O8665Cbg/UQxBxuK3NWI/AAAAAAAACwc/-Ve_xTF3_-U/s1600-h/EmptyCollage%25255B6%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="EmptyCollage" border="0" alt="EmptyCollage" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-GwszEgKpB_Q/UQxBzz4ufQI/AAAAAAAACwk/qNhAw9Bd-WQ/EmptyCollage_thumb%25255B4%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="548" height="548"></a></p> <p><strong>Simple Nourishing Eye Make-Up Remover Cream</strong> This was my second bottle of this and I won’t buy again. It does the removey makeup bit easily and without tugging at your eyes but the cream gets everywhere and it’s so gross trying to fish makeup remover slime from around your eyeball. Not a repurchase, I’m currently using the clear Simple eye makeup remover.</p> <p><strong>NSpa Melting Cleansing Gel</strong> I reviewed this <a href="http://on-the-lash.blogspot.co.uk/2012/04/lovenspa-melting-cleansing-gel.html">here</a> and loved it – I still do. For around a fiver this feels really luxurious and I will buy again once I’ve got through a few other cleansers hanging around.</p> <p><strong>Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish </strong>I got this in a set from QVC though I have finished a few bottles before. This is a nice cleanser but I seem to go through it quickly. I will probably repurchase at some point but for the moment I’m using the REN cleansing balm.</p> <p><strong>No7 Pore Refining Serum </strong>I used this every morning on my t-zone and it feels like it lasted forever. This makes all sorts of claims about pores and while I do feel mine have improved I now have a better skincare routine in general so I’m unsure how much I can attribute to this alone. I don’t think I’d repurchase, it’s nice enough but nothing special and I’m using the Dr Jart pore serum instead at the moment.</p> <p><strong>Sephora Super Loaded Age Defy Serum Sample</strong> While doing my version of tidying which probably isn’t really tidying around my bedroom earlier this month I noticed I had an awful lot of samples hanging around ready for the weekend japes I never go on. I got a good three uses out of this sachet and it was nice, if I lived near a Sephora I’d possibly get the full size.</p> <p><strong>Alpha-H Balancing Moisturiser and Gentle Exfoliant </strong>This felt really heavy when first applied but when I woke up my skin was a little brighter and smoother. I prefer the REN serum I’m currently using though.</p> <p><strong>Toni & Guy Deep Conditioning Mask for Brunette Hair </strong>This was average to crap for me. It didn’t really make any difference to tangles or frizzy hair when left on for the few minutes as suggested, only when I had it on for a good 30-40 minutes whilst face-masking it up. </p> <p><strong>Batiste Medium Brunette Dry Shampoo </strong>Godsend</p> <p><strong>Revlon Grow Luscious </strong>I usually have one of these hanging around as it’s a good mascara for layering with others I don’t love, such as…</p> <p><strong>17 Blow Out</strong> This wasn’t great but fared better with Grow Luscious underneath for a bit more impact. I doubt I’ll rebuy.</p> <p>Not pictured:</p> <p><strong>Soap & Glory Hand Food </strong>Smells lush but isn’t moisturising enough for me and my granny hands</p> <p><strong>Garnier Hand Repair Hand Cream </strong>Was much better and I would have possible repurchased if I hadn’t received Hand Food for Christmas then got distracted by other pretties…</p> <p> </p> <p>So there you have it! Sorry it was such a mish but I love seeing what people actually use to the end! </p> <p>I hope you all are well and had a lovely Xmas and New Year x</p> Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-789298785405867957.post-82682584340030986852012-09-26T17:05:00.000+01:002012-09-26T17:05:26.932+01:00Holiday Hauling!Hello ladies! I hope your having a happy hump day! I’m still on annual leave so I’m in my lay about clothes watching The Thick Of It, this is the life! If you’ve never watched it you need to, Malcolm Tucker is my hero. I can only dream of swearing like that.<br />
<br />
Not last weekend but the one before the boy and I went on a little city break dahling, to Amsterdam! Him indoors has been before, I hadn’t but it was on the to do list. I managed to find it for a good price on lastminute.com so off we went! We were staying in a really nice 4 star hotel which was a little way out of town a few streets away from the Van Gogh museum but we got tram passes for a few Euro and hammered them, we literally went everywhere! I can’t recommend visiting Amsterdam enough, it’s so beautiful and easy to walk around. <br />
<br />
It was my birthday on the day we got there annnnd birthday celebrations along with my having purchased no cosmetics since July…lets be honest I need no excuse for a haul. And haul I did. Like a mother.<br />
<br />

Some bits I’ve used a bit and some bits I haven’t touched so this will just be a skim over what I got before I start playing around and get some reviews up.<br />
<br />
First up a visit to Sephora. There isn’t one actually in Amsterdam but a few km away. Yes I did drag my poor boyfriend all the way there and he didn’t even moan! WIN!<br />

<a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-VN_XoeiF2Xo/UGMnY84tJ1I/AAAAAAAACvE/Mvy_oeckXV4/s1600-h/haulz5%25255B4%25255D.png"><img alt="haulz5" border="0" height="181" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-qBZ8QnZIFcg/UGMnaeLHW1I/AAAAAAAACvM/N_fqlXZr0No/haulz5_thumb%25255B2%25255D.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="haulz5" width="550" /></a><br />

Yves Rocher Sexy Pulp mascara, Catrice Absolute Eye Colour in I Like To Mauve It and Mr Copper’s Fields, Essence lipstick All About Cupcake and Essence Superfine Eyeliner Pen, I also got an Essence cream eyeshadow that isn’t pictured here<br />
<br />
Last of all, Douglas and duty free purchases<br />
<a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-JUt7Rhk6DSc/UGMnfil7joI/AAAAAAAACvk/0ZmF-plqmnI/s1600-h/haulz7%25255B4%25255D.png"><img alt="haulz7" border="0" height="290" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-dlfinorLAuM/UGMnhO3SbjI/AAAAAAAACvs/yt6CoUxVXEg/haulz7_thumb%25255B2%25255D.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="haulz7" width="471" /></a><br />

<br />
I feel disgusted at myself. Normally I need to hide new purchases away from the boy under the bed or something but he was present for all of these purchases and therefore aware of my horrendous dependence on lipstick and the buying thereof. He still hasn’t mentioned it or taken the piss…keeper!<br />
<br />
Have you been to Amsterdam? Or used any of these badboys?! xoUnknownnoreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-789298785405867957.post-7913598039678250512012-09-14T15:38:00.000+01:002012-09-14T15:38:00.243+01:00NOTD–Green Nail ComparisonsIt is well documented that as well as being a lipstick fiend, there is more than enough space for ample amounts of nail polish too. <br />
It can’t be just me that despite owning more than I wish to count I end up with several variations of a shade. Lets just say I definitely have a type (or ten).<br />
<br />
So after the post about <a href="http://on-the-lash.blogspot.co.uk/2012/09/notdnyc-mint-macaroon.html">NYC’s Mint Macaroon</a> I was tidying around one day and noticed I had another shade I’d forgotten about that looked similar. And repeat. And repeat. <br />
<br />
I figured I’d do a quick comparison while I have time and inclination in case you had some of these or any catch your eye…<br />

From L-R these are <a href="http://on-the-lash.blogspot.co.uk/2012/09/notdnyc-mint-macaroon.html">NYC’s Mint Macaroon</a>, Models Own Jade Stone, <a href="http://on-the-lash.blogspot.co.uk/2011/07/naily-goodnessbeauty-uk-urban-girl.html">Beauty UK unnamed (may be called Jade)</a>, <a href="http://on-the-lash.blogspot.co.uk/2011/01/notdchina-glaze-for-audreygosh-rainbow.html">China Glaze For Audrey</a><br />

China Glaze straight away is the most turquoise of these. It’s one of my favourite polishes and one the boy loves as well! Beauty UK and Models Own are a similar shade but I prefer Models Own and it has a better formula. Plus can you hate something if it has your name in it? Mint Macaroon is a shade on it’s own, a beautiful spring green. I love these kind of shades!<br />
<br />
Do you like? Do you own any of these shades? Do you have any more suggestions? I need more polish like a hole in the head but I love it!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-789298785405867957.post-42443018812976310872012-09-09T14:12:00.002+01:002012-09-09T14:12:56.131+01:00Top Fave… Lip ComboHello ladies! How is your Sunday going? I hope your making the most of the sunshine!<br />
I worked a night shift last night and unfortunately my body has decided that 4 and a half hours sleep is the new 8 hours. This means my Sunday will be spent in my dressing gown on the sofa watching the F1 eating Sweet Chilli & Red Pepper Tyrrells…not that I’m complaining!<br />
<br />
As I’m sure you are <em>very </em>aware by now, I am a total lipstick fiend! I have so many I don’t want to count. The idea of how much £ they have cost me makes me feel a little ill. Which is why I’m so overjoyed to be entertaining the idea of finishing one!<br />
<br />
MAC’s Angel has been a consistent fave for a long long while, it’s so easy to slap on and go without worrying too much about my lip line (ain’t nobody got time to apply lip liner EVERY time!) and it wears fairly well, two hours or so on me. It’s a frost formulation which sounds like a horrific 90’s throwback but it’s not noticeable. Thank god.<br />
My tube of Angel is now a shadow of it’s former self so it’s high time for the final push to use it up so it can go to lipstick heaven. I’ve been wearing it with a dab of Clinique’s Long Last Glosswear in Air Kiss, a sample from Glamour magazine at some point.<br />

This is just an easy to wear lip that goes with everything. I don’t like to pile on the makeup for work because barely anyone wears any but this makes me feel ‘done’ without feeling like a overdone tramp. Bonus!<br />
Once my husk of a stump of Angel has depleted I will try Air Kiss with MAC’s Creme Cup, a similar shade that I also love!<br />
Are you a fan of Angel? Or Ange in my case as the label has worn…<br />

One last thing…<br />

It’s depressing when one of the reasons you are excited about having days off work is so you can paint your nails. Especially in summer time when wearing pastels is the law! <br />

A new purchase and current fave is this cheapie courtesy of NYC…<br />

It goes between a minty and a more ‘spring’ green, either way I LOVE IT!! I want to paint just about all of my belongings this colour. Awesome. <br />
<br />
This was three easy coats. I could of got away with two were it not for my shoddy painting skillz. <br />
As for the 7 day wear claim? Nada. I wore this for three and it was looking tatty, you can see a chip on my ring finger in the above pictures. However for £2.49 this is a total winner!<br />
<br />
Do you get cravings for summery hues? I gladly wear pastels all year round but this is a new fave!<br />

I feel as if I don’t leave work right now and this week is a 6 dayer for me which sucks balls. However I have booked a little holiday for me and the man for a few weeks time so things are looking up!!!<br />
<br />
This post is following on from the one I did a few weeks ago on my current skincare routine. I know skincare is <em>incredibly </em>subjective but when I ran out of the product last week I rushed (<span style="font-size: xx-small;">may contain traces of porkie!)</span> out straight away to repurchase without a second thought. <br />
<br />
Toner is a take it or leave it product for some people but I am firmly in the take it camp! My face doesn’t feel properly clean post cleansing without it and I’ve tried a few high street offerings in the past few years. Most of them I haven’t been too taken with and had even been using my own rosewater and witch hazel concoction of late until I ran out. That’s when I picked up this badboy and I haven’t looked back!<br />
<br />

<br />
Boots’ Botanics All Bright Cleansing Toner claims to <em>“…helps visibly tighten pores and instantly brighten skin.” </em>Personally I’m not completely sold on these claims. While my skin has been looking brighter and my pores bothering me a little less, I doubt it is down to this toner, more down to my routine as a whole. It contains AHA’s to help smooth the skin (can you tell I know eff all about these things?!) which means you should use sunscreen after use, a pain in the bum for some but I personally do anyway.<br />
<br />
At the end of the day, it’s a toner. I’m sure it won’t make miracles happen. That being said, I have used plenty of toners that have stripped my skin and this is not one of them. It really does leave my skin feeling refreshed and ready for a good moisturisation! For the £4 odd this cost, and it is currently on special offer for less, this is a great buy.<br />
<br />
In other news, there was a kite festival on Southsea Common last weekend. We didn’t stay too long but of the ones I saw this was a fave…<a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-JraMDaXIFvc/UD_S_53VocI/AAAAAAAACoI/fPaql_ft3gw/s1600-h/spongey%25255B4%25255D.png"><img alt="spongey" border="0" height="310" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/--bwbsiqeuWk/UD_TAyFzoyI/AAAAAAAACoQ/jNSIQIe2hWc/spongey_thumb%25255B2%25255D.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="spongey" width="413" /></a><br />
How’s that for a bodge job Spongebob! I’m guessing that’s what this is meant to be!<br />

How are you all feeling post-Olympics? I’m feeling a little bit lost, much how I felt when series 2 of the Danish Killing ended. It was a bit of a contrast to Beijing though as 4 years ago I was at uni and didn’t leave my house for two weeks whereas I had to work this year. Sad times!</p> <p> </p> <p>One thing that is perking me up in these dark times is the current condition of my skin! A few months ago my usually normal/combination complexion was way oilier than normal and there were blemishes all over the shop, especially on my crazy oily chin. Factor night shifts in there and the disruption in sleep/eating crap that go hand in hand with working crazy hours and you have a big ol mess!</p> <p> </p> <p>Since changing a few things around my skin has changed considerably and while my nose and more so my chin are oilier than the rest of my face they are much less oily than previously! I don’t have to blot until lunchtime as opposed to when I arrive at work woohoo! </p> <p>Another concern is my enlarged pores. I can’t say for sure the degree to which they have been affected but they definitely bother me less than before. It is also looking more luminous and just all over healthier than before.</p> <p> </p> <p>Less rambling, I’ll get to the goods!</p> <p><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-hLFotCeWDwk/UClJnOVvc2I/AAAAAAAACl4/MnGl489m310/s1600-h/Skincare%25255B7%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Skincare" border="0" alt="Skincare" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-LNu1BNo1zns/UClJn3RVx8I/AAAAAAAACmA/IZ-TnMgXz3c/Skincare_thumb%25255B4%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="491" height="475"></a></p> <p>I remove any remainder of eyelash serum with <strong>No7</strong>’s <strong>Beautiful Skin Eye Make-Up Remover</strong>. Shortly before I hop in the shower I rub <strong>nspa</strong>’s <strong>Melting Cleansing Gel </strong>(<a href="http://on-the-lash.blogspot.co.uk/2012/04/lovenspa-melting-cleansing-gel.html">review here</a>) all over my visage before rinsing off in the shower. Finally prior to moisturiser I squirt some <strong>Botanics Cleansing Toner </strong>on a cotton pad and rub it all over my face.</p> <p> </p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-ACMPR06vlQg/UClJoqACjGI/AAAAAAAACmI/vXABO-gMyHY/s1600-h/MorningSkincare1%25255B7%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="MorningSkincare1" border="0" alt="MorningSkincare1" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-puVQ0xyLSKA/UClJpWAC4VI/AAAAAAAACmQ/QoaHFFbAQ6Y/MorningSkincare1_thumb%25255B4%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="491" height="402"></a></p> <p>After toner I spread one pump of <strong>No7</strong>’s <strong>Pore Refining Serum </strong>over my chin, nose and the top of my cheeks. I fanny around for a bit while that sinks in before adding <strong>La Roche-Posay</strong>’s <strong>Effaclar K </strong>on the same areas. I then put some of <strong>No7</strong>’s <strong>Beautiful Skin Day Cream </strong>for normal/oily skin on the drier areas of my face (forehead, bottom of cheeks and neck). Finally I rub some <strong>No7 Beautiful Skin Vitality Eye Roll-On </strong>under my eyes. Hey presto! Ready for makeup!</p> <p> </p> <p>In the evening after a long day at work when all I want to do is hang out with my wang out (note: I have no wang) I like to use stuff I can just chuck on without too much hassle.</p> <p><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-dcGx6uk6D1U/UClJqi7fUJI/AAAAAAAACmY/lEr_oExqMoE/s1600-h/Skincare1%25255B8%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Skincare1" border="0" alt="Skincare1" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/--xmlpo7D6bQ/UClJrYYXSEI/AAAAAAAACmg/fMajGv45xpw/Skincare1_thumb%25255B5%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="495" height="483"></a></p> <p>Same as in the AM I remove my eye makeup with <strong>No7 Beautiful Skin Eye Make-Up Remover</strong> before rubbing <strong>Superdrug Vitamin E Hot Cloth Cleanser </strong>all over and removing with a warm damp flannel. Again I prep my skin for moisturiser with <strong>Botanics Cleansing Toner</strong>. </p> <p> </p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/--AXsuCXJ54Y/UClJsB4EA_I/AAAAAAAACmo/kbD4zxfLFZs/s1600-h/Skincare2%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Skincare2" border="0" alt="Skincare2" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-Ld5EKmriK0Y/UClJs06HrfI/AAAAAAAACmw/MC1NCChsryg/Skincare2_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="552" height="317"></a></p> <p>I rotate though three different night creams depending on what I feel like. On the left is <strong>Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse</strong> which I pat on my aforementioned dry areas before using <strong>HEMA Nightcream </strong>for normal/combination skin. If I want something a bit more brightening I use <strong>Nuxe Creme Etincelante </strong>(<a href="http://on-the-lash.blogspot.co.uk/2012/06/things-i-cant-live-without-vier.html">review here</a>) or <strong>Alpha-H Balancing Moisturiser and Gentle Exfoliant</strong>.</p> <p><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-9WsWc_pCIeM/UClJuPXzqKI/AAAAAAAACm4/Np9BZzZIcX8/s1600-h/Skincare4%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Skincare4" border="0" alt="Skincare4" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-e7zcacnDTXA/UClJujcf-YI/AAAAAAAACnA/zoh0QF_Qj54/Skincare4_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="354" height="419"></a></p> <p><strong>Origins GinZing </strong>eye cream and <strong>Mavala Double-Lash</strong> are the final bits of my night time routine and I’m really liking them both at the moment.</p> <p>In addition to all this I also use a face scrub and a few masks…. What a palaver! Some of this stuff I’ve used for ages and some is pretty new so reviews will come as and when I’ve formed an opinion…..</p> <p> </p> <p>Have you used any of these products? Or can you recommend me an anti-aging night cream for combination skin? I’m sure to be needing one soon and I have no idea where to start!</p> <p> </p> <p>Sorry this post was a bit boring! This is the first time I’ve been pleased with how my skin looks for more than like three consecutive days so I want to share it with you!</p> Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-789298785405867957.post-82836235737232034042012-07-31T21:32:00.000+01:002012-07-31T21:32:00.760+01:00New Purchases–Laura MercierHola!<br />
<br />
As I said in my previous post my spending has been a bit mental lately – there is much more to show you but these two babies are some of the many culprits!<br />
<br />
Whenever I head back to Bristol I have to indulge in some shopping! Portsmouth’s shopping is a complete let-down and I can never be arsed to drive to Southampton so I take advantage of a trip back home every so often. <br />
<br />
For some unknown reason I decided to head into Harvey Nichols. I hate going in there as no-one at the counters ever speaks to me. I know I look like a scruffy mare at times but I have money burning in my pocket and can be coerced into buying anything – a shop assistants dream! The only counter I have a good experience at is SpaceNK where the staff have always been lovely and I always end up dropping a few too many ££. <br />
<br />
This time however I trotted over to the Laura Mercier counter. I don’t own anything bar a concealer bought via Buyapowa from the brand and having seen many pretties on <a href="http://www.viviannadoesmakeup.com/">Vivianna Does Makeup</a> I thought it high time I took the plunge. The lady was lovely and it didn’t take long for me to leave with some new beauties.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-zyC370ggVBM/UBRMEvTSi3I/AAAAAAAACjo/4FE1y8fFtuY/s1600-h/Lauramercier%25255B6%25255D.jpg"><img alt="Lauramercier" border="0" height="300" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-Til0ckwNFLw/UBRMFcEzcGI/AAAAAAAACjw/GmibPNyHh4U/Lauramercier_thumb%25255B3%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="Lauramercier" width="497" /></a><br />
<a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-M6Q2vYp6-TA/UBRMGu_91MI/AAAAAAAACj4/g-24w0BTtqA/s1600-h/lauramercier1%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img alt="lauramercier1" border="0" height="275" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-qAqt_ZFWLIE/UBRMHRui7KI/AAAAAAAACkA/Nm7dXtDqmDY/lauramercier1_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="lauramercier1" width="498" /></a><br />
I came away with a Second Skin Cheek Colour in Lush Nectarine and the limited edition Crème Lip Print in Nude Coral.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-F6WCvPzhhAw/UBRMI1dREII/AAAAAAAACkI/xS-mMGctHf0/s1600-h/lauramercier2%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img alt="lauramercier2" border="0" height="331" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-SkJZvVjqnK0/UBRMJn3ojpI/AAAAAAAACkM/gvW02FBvuF4/lauramercier2_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="lauramercier2" width="486" /></a><br />
<a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-K3DVdyYbcw8/UBRMKrGPc1I/AAAAAAAACkY/RumcPnvftFQ/s1600-h/lauramercier3%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img alt="lauramercier3" border="0" height="290" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-e91sA_zR6J0/UBRMLQszcNI/AAAAAAAACkg/fPSnmmZa8oo/lauramercier3_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="lauramercier3" width="490" /></a><br />
Lush Nectarine is on the left and Nude Coral on the right.<br />
<br />
The lady applied some to me and while cooing over it I mentioned that my blush doesn’t always last very long at work. I think it is constantly going between air conditioned and non air conditioned environments – I’m always freezing or a sweaty betty! <br />
I then moved on to gushing over these Lip Prints – this and the more pinky colour are really pretty. The lady then suggested this could be worn as a cheek product under the powder to make it last longer.<br />
<br />
I’ve been doing this for the last few weeks or so and loving the result! It’s a really pretty peachy apricoty glow that withstands the arctic environment I work in!<br />
<br />
<a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-s49g9Bmh3p0/UBRMMbGVlcI/AAAAAAAACko/RrECLaPkQcM/s1600-h/lauramercier4%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img alt="lauramercier4" border="0" height="424" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-VW-5eaantkE/UBRMNX90fvI/AAAAAAAACks/xVGq1vtyqLQ/lauramercier4_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="lauramercier4" width="246" /></a><br />
<a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-yXat6nPRDxM/UBRMOBJdLPI/AAAAAAAACk4/7yvK7935jw8/s1600-h/lauramercier5%25255B7%25255D.jpg"><img alt="lauramercier5" border="0" height="372" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-Nr2Gdrd4PGM/UBRMPaeMQKI/AAAAAAAACk8/ag8JmsrK5eU/lauramercier5_thumb%25255B4%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="lauramercier5" width="362" /></a><br />
<br />
Lush Nectarine has a teensy bit of shimmer, enough to make it ‘glow’ rather than ‘frosty the snowman’. The Lip Print feels really nice on the cheeks too – non sticky. I have also worn it on the lips but for me it requires a little bit of gloss over the top.<br />
<a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-gLWKJty7nb8/UBRMQCX3ncI/AAAAAAAAClI/iXWFnzDdCOo/s1600-h/lauramercier6%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img alt="lauramercier6" border="0" height="203" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-uURnSl6xzgo/UBRMQ-efJeI/AAAAAAAAClQ/dXTClBFmpQ8/lauramercier6_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="lauramercier6" width="402" /></a><br />
<br />
I normally shy away from luxury items. The price tag is a little scary and I have been disappointed in the past but these are totally worth it! The blusher is £20.50 for 3.6g and the Lip Print is £16.50 for 1.9g which sounds steep but these are highly pigmented so will last ages.<br />
<br />
There is another Lip Print in Nude Pink that caught my eye – if I wasn’t on such a hideous NO BUY it’d be mine for sure!<br />
<br />
Are there any other Laura Mercier goodies I should keep an eye out for? For my birthday wishlist?Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-789298785405867957.post-33234624006355257122012-07-28T13:49:00.000+01:002012-07-28T13:49:03.277+01:00Review–Bourjois Flower Perfection PrimerHappy Saturday ladies! <br />
I decided to stop blogging for a while as my spending was getting a bit out of control and I thought getting away from the trials and tribulations of lipstick would help me manage that.<br />
Turns out no. I’m ABSOLUTELY NOT buying ANYTHING until my birthday in September. Except maybe perhaps for the new YSL foundation, I got a sample yesterday and I’ll see how it goes. But <u>that’s it.</u> <br />
Well instead of still spending the ££ and having no one to spend it with I may as well pull my finger out and do some posting ay?!<br />
<br />
In true me style I ran out of primer and ended up buying too many to replace the <em>one </em>that ran out. <a href="http://on-the-lash.blogspot.co.uk/2012/06/review-laura-geller-spackle.html">My last post</a> was about Laura Gellar’s Spackle primer which was my daily work primer and I used this for weekends. However I soon began to notice how much better my oily chin was when using this so began using it for work instead. Add a switch in moisturiser and hey presto! My oily chin is not diminished but a billion times better than it was.<br />
<a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-FErQN1JITLI/UBPevzFPvGI/AAAAAAAAChs/tWEIov76jGY/s1600-h/Bourjois%252520primer%25255B6%25255D.jpg"><img alt="Bourjois primer" border="0" height="330" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-IuW3Cg11TG4/UBPewg4T-XI/AAAAAAAAChw/DXfaGTowQlc/Bourjois%252520primer_thumb%25255B3%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="Bourjois primer" width="473" /></a><br />
Bourjois Flower Perfection Translucent Smoothing Primer (what a mouthful!) claims to have a “Correcting airbrush action” creating “Beautified skin”. I can’t really argue much with this. In terms of covering my pores (my main concern), it works almost as well as Benefit’s Porefessional.<br />
Price: £9.99 for 7ml at <a href="http://www.boots.com/en/Bourjois-Flower-Perfection-Primer-7ml_1244998/">Boots</a> – I swear I must have got this with some ££ off because I wouldn’t of paid that! It’s also available in Superdrug and a bunch of other chemists.<br />
Packaging: A small plastic pot – I know some people have hygiene issues with pots. I personally don’t mind as I know where my hands have been but I see why people do.<br />
<a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-9RVDaAh3Ubw/UBPexQY6evI/AAAAAAAACh4/YJPdBrReIjk/s1600-h/bourjois%252520primer1%25255B6%25255D.jpg"><img alt="bourjois primer1" border="0" height="330" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-EYcp8YQm464/UBPeyEWk4qI/AAAAAAAACiA/QDQN01WRe8M/bourjois%252520primer1_thumb%25255B3%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="bourjois primer1" width="477" /></a><br />
The product is a white-cream-light pinky-ish balm. It feels velvety in application – like a lighter GOSH velvet touch. <br />
I need to use quite a lot for the areas I cover – nose, chin, top of cheeks and bottom of forehead – to make it feel evenly covered. I have ploughed through this in the weeks I’ve been wearing it – considering I barely made a dent in the Spackle primer in 4 months and a bottle of MAC Prep+Prime lasts me 6 months plus.<br />
I have also noticed a bit of pilling when applying, no matter how long I leave my moisturiser on before I apply this. Even when applying it to my hand it pilled and I barely used any.<br />
<a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-a2NhxXjWyjo/UBPezKNoKvI/AAAAAAAACiM/orC617pUXmc/s1600-h/bourjois%252520primer2%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img alt="bourjois primer2" border="0" height="324" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-zCitsPeqPYs/UBPezxVXN9I/AAAAAAAACiU/oJ0ayv2Pogc/bourjois%252520primer2_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="bourjois primer2" width="476" /></a><br />
That is probably the amount I’d need to use for my nose and cheeks, maybe a bit more.<br />
<a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-tuMIfUQ9GBk/UBPe057voxI/AAAAAAAACic/5cijEZm-yHY/s1600-h/Bourjois%252520primer3%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img alt="Bourjois primer3" border="0" height="329" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-IgLJXB4YnGU/UBPe2KFFdtI/AAAAAAAACik/1_11CJvy_1Y/Bourjois%252520primer3_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="Bourjois primer3" width="483" /></a><br />
I can’t really argue with this primer’s claims. It does make my pores less noticeable and my skin look and feel a better texture. My oiliness is managed better than with other primers I have used and my makeup does last longer than without a primer.<br />
<br />
Regardless of this I wouldn’t repurchase. In terms of ££ for amount of product and how quickly I’m going through it I don’t think this is a good deal and there are other primers around that are more economical. I do like it and will use it up but I’m not completely satisfied with this!<br />
<br />
I was going to post a little update of what I’ve been doing since my last post butttt I haven’t really done much. Worked a ton, a quick trip back home and that is pretty much it! A few token photos..<br />

Hope your all good! I won’t leave it so long next time xUnknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-789298785405867957.post-11954962880147448842012-06-15T21:47:00.000+01:002012-06-15T21:47:00.600+01:00Review: Laura Geller SpackleGutentag!<br />
<br />
I hope you are all well! This is just a quick one from me, I realised I haven’t properly reviewed much in ages and my daily work makeup routine has changed a bit since my previous <a href="http://on-the-lash.blogspot.co.uk/2012/03/weekly-wear.html">Weekly Wear post</a> – I really should pull my finger out and update it! I am hoping to be done with some of the items I’m using soon, wearing the same concealers and eyeshadow for nearly 4 months is doing my head in!!<br />
<br />
Anyway, in that post I was using Benefit’s That Gal primer which I only ended up using for a few days due to a crop of spots appearing. They may or may not have been down to that but when I stopped using it they went so who knows! Around that time I had ordered a <a href="http://www.qvcuk.com/ukqic/qvcapp.aspx/app.detail/params.item.200211.cm_scid.dynamicBestsellers?cm_sp=department-_-Bestsellers-_-page1">Laura Geller set from QVC</a> which came with a huge 59ml bottle of the range’s primer – Spackle.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-B1FE_BwMmyk/T9UHujB7ZvI/AAAAAAAACgc/MZw6L2Enxlo/s1600-h/Lauragelz%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img alt="Lauragelz" border="0" height="463" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-5z-1A-9Yxpk/T9UHu0hSBYI/AAAAAAAACgk/KStJtaVFWno/Lauragelz_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="Lauragelz" width="306" /></a><br />
<br />
<strong>They say </strong><em>“Oil-free primer prepares skin for makeup application by smoothing and perfecting the texture of your skin. Helps makeup last longer and keep colors true”</em><br />
<br />
I whole-heartedly agree with this statement. I apply a tiny blob to my face once my moisturiser has sunk in and leave it for a few minutes before starting my makeup. It does make my skin smooth and velvety without feeling <em>at all </em>heavy which is an issue I had with GOSH’s Velvet Touch primer. My makeup just glides over it! It makes no claims regarding pore minimising but I do find that mine are <em>slightly </em>filled in with this alone and once my makeup is on they are hardly visible.<br />
<br />
I find it hard to comment on the issue of the wear of my makeup because of my workplace. I work in a heavily air-conditioned environment where I am running around like a blue assed fly all day. Sweaty face (sorry but it’s true!) plus blasting air con = a messed up complexion. It does extend the wear of my makeup in comparison to makeup without primer but it still fades and is a little patchy by the time I get home. However, I feel it is unfair to use these as negative points because the best primer in the world would struggle in my workplace!<br />
<br />
<a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-4i58VdwvkzQ/T9UHvUhszJI/AAAAAAAACgs/My-XKRU7RdE/s1600-h/lauragelz1%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img alt="lauragelz1" border="0" height="251" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-ag8AkB7NycA/T9UHv19UaHI/AAAAAAAACg0/XBpYEGsYQR0/lauragelz1_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="lauragelz1" width="427" /></a><br />
<a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-NdULieuNsLE/T9UHwI7wTaI/AAAAAAAACg4/iid80qvGml8/s1600-h/lauragelz2%25255B6%25255D.jpg"><img alt="lauragelz2" border="0" height="297" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-Qhg7zAVmDOQ/T9UHw5biA5I/AAAAAAAAChA/VGsWjiinkwo/lauragelz2_thumb%25255B3%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="lauragelz2" width="411" /></a><br />
<br />
It’s in a tube so it’s easy to control how much comes out – handy because that blob above is enough for my whole face! <br />
<br />
A little goes a long way with this stuff making it’s already pretty good value price on <a href="http://www.qvcuk.com/ukqic/qvcapp.aspx/app.detail/params.item.221821.cm_scid.dynamicBestsellers?cm_sp=department-_-Bestsellers-_-page2">QVC</a> of £24.52 for 120g even better. My tube is 56g and it’s lasted months already.<br />
<br />
I really like this primer – my skin feels amazing, it’s oil-free, doesn’t feel heavy on my skin and my makeup goes on like a dream. If I didn’t have loads of primers to use after I finish this one (which will already take me aggges) I would repurchase straight away for sure. I definitely will in the future.<br />
Have you tried any Laura Geller products? Or do you have any other primer recs?<br />
<br />
Just one more thing…<br />
<a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-qelFVD-bAyE/T9UHxGsCd_I/AAAAAAAAChM/LByT3ruATZs/s1600-h/lauragelz3%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img alt="lauragelz3" border="0" height="402" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-bCsmxPD-Qn8/T9UHxqaSGMI/AAAAAAAAChU/IivbqoRqfmU/lauragelz3_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="lauragelz3" width="343" /></a><br />
A lazy girls dream dinner – yes it’s sauce in a packet which made me feel a little bit dirty (the boy and I make our own pasta sauces regularly but haven’t ever braved curry!) but it was a quid from Asda and aside from being a little hotter than I expected Butter Chicken to be it was really good! NOM!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-789298785405867957.post-46890383287589111352012-06-13T19:31:00.000+01:002012-06-13T19:31:00.413+01:00Things I Can’t Live Without: VierOh ladies. Another day another dollar I know but this week is wearing me out! Thank goodness I’m on normal day shifts or I would be dead on my feet! I hope your week is a little less taxing.<br />
<br />
It’s times like these, where work is knackering me out, I’m trying to watch The Killing and my bra is injuring my armpit, that I wish to tell you about my all time top fave face cream.<br />
<br />
I’m a bit of a cheeky monkey in that you can’t actually buy this in the UK as far as I know, it has been discontinued. When my previous jar ran out I did a few extensive internet searches that brought up a few potential sources but I got my second jar while in France on holiday last summer. It was easily obtainable there – I got it in Carrefour in Calais for around €27 – so if it tickles your fancy and your off abroad this year keep an eye out.<br />
<br />
Enough preamble – meet Nuxe’s Creme Etincelante<br />
<br />
<a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-45pUJriC_No/T9Tn-U9_H4I/AAAAAAAACfo/hzq24Qk8mVQ/s1600-h/Etincelante%25255B6%25255D.jpg"><img alt="Etincelante" border="0" height="323" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-6STwPo24byE/T9Tn-h3Ty0I/AAAAAAAACfw/VXdLpaTqGoI/Etincelante_thumb%25255B3%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="Etincelante" width="474" /></a><br />
<br />
For my €27 I received 50ml of product in a sturdy glass jar – I know jars aren’t everybody’s thing but this is a nice one and the lid is heavy plastic. Packaging wise this is a thumbs up from me.<br />
<br />
I don’t have the box for this anymore so some details may be a bit sketchy but this product calls itself a <em>‘radiance resurfacing cream’ </em>and it contains fruit acids that gently exfoliate your skin. I use this exclusively as a night cream as if you try and put anything over the top it ‘pills’ like jumpers do if you know what I mean…and because of the fruit acids I wear a moisturiser or something with SPF in it the following day. <br />
<br />
The morning after using this my skin is brighter and more even in tone – great for me because I am prone to redness on my nose and cheeks. My skin is always soft but hydrated and feels smooth. It may sound like a bit of a full on rave but I love this cream! When I ran out of my last jar I was devastated and trawled the internet looking for a replacement that wouldn’t cost me one hundred billion dollars. I was so glad when this was among the other Nuxe goodies in Carrefour!<br />
<br />
<a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-WWu7EDV5bCA/T9Tn_EZNQEI/AAAAAAAACf4/cST_65_7zVE/s1600-h/etinclante1%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img alt="etinclante1" border="0" height="370" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-8IcumbDatt8/T9Tn_Zg-M_I/AAAAAAAACgA/gcTNwunvD8o/etinclante1_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="etinclante1" width="458" /></a><br />
<br />
You can kind of see the texture here, it’s not the thickest night cream I have and it glides on easily – sinking in quickly but not so quick I can’t give my Chevy a quick massage at the same time.<br />
<br />
The amount above would cover most of my face, I might use a tiny bit more. You don’t need a lot though – I’ve used this at least three times a week since the end of August and I have about a quarter of a jar left – hopefully enough to last me until my planned-but-not-yet-confirmed Eurotrip in September!<br />
<br />
That’s all from me tonight ladies, I am going to take off this bra and give The Killing (the Danish first series, I love it!) my full attention. You know you are ready for maxing and relaxing when your bra-less and in your Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle pyjamas.<br />
<br />
I just thought I’d share another of my loves and something I wish I could imbibe more of<br />

I hope you are having a good weekend and aren’t full of work dread (sorry if I reminded you!). Today for me is full of my gorgeous niece and brunch with hopefully a sprinkling of F1, football and a whole lot of maxing relaxing. Fingers crossed anyways!<br />
<br />
Seeing as I am <a href="http://on-the-lash.blogspot.co.uk/2012/06/just-keep-haulin-haulin-haulin.html">buying nail varnishes like they are going out of fashion</a>, which I am pretty sure they aren’t, I figured I had better show you what I am actually wearing on my nails at this moment in time.<br />

Apologies for the crazy FLASH picture, it best showed the glitter. These are Kendall On The Katwalk and Wear Something Spar-Kylie from the Nicole By OPI Kardashian Kolor (cringe! I hate writing colour both with a k and without a u!) collection. I’m not a great lover of the Kardashian’s as a rule but that wasn’t going to prevent me from purchasing these beauties!<br />

My nails are so hideous at the moment I really hesitated about posting these pictures. However I’ve not posted for a few weeks and surely one of the only things that can brighten up manky nails is a shedload of glitter?!<br />

You can see Kendall On The Katwalk has both turquoise and a royal blue-ish glitter in a blue base whereas Wear Something Spar-Kylie has pretty much just rose glitter in a rosy base. Both are awesomely pretty though, if it hadn’t of started to chip soon after these pics I would have put on some matte top coat. I’m sure I’ll be trying that sometime soon!<br />
<br />
I am also pretty pleased with the nail varnish on my toes at the moment! I love turquoises on toes for summer and this combo is really cute! No fear, no shots of my horrendous feet will ever grace the pages of this blog so unshield your eyes! I painted what I’m wearing on three of my fingers, meaning my little finger is awkwardly cropped out…<br />

This is two coats of China Glaze’s For Audrey with two coats of Models Own Ibiza Mix. I only got Ibiza Mix a few days ago but it’s a fave already! I was going to pass on it but when I spotted it in a lesser-frequented (by me) branch of Boots I caved and I’m so glad I did!<br />
<br />
What do you think of these pretties? Is glitter your thing? At 24, worryingly soon to be 25, I sometimes feel it isn’t <em>that </em>age-appropriate but on the other hand, you only live once!<br />

When I get worn out and overworked I do what any sane lady does. I haul some.<br />
<br />
PLEASE bear in mind I’ve bought all this over the last month or so and have been really good with my purchasing for the last few months…not that it really excuses much…<br />
First up the polishes<br />
<a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-fiIwihYXMRI/T9PBpk9ZDwI/AAAAAAAACag/eYUjOAVI4wQ/s1600-h/Haul%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img alt="Haul" border="0" height="269" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-zKX26t3nA3U/T9PBqI-ZGfI/AAAAAAAACao/n90byXb5j0c/Haul_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="Haul" width="527" /></a><br />

Considering I can’t wear polish at work you’d think I’d slow down with the purchasing. Most of these are crossed off the wishlist though if that makes any difference!<br />
<br />
I also stopped by my local CCO store and got some MAC goodies<br />
<a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-Yknu4fN2mLc/T9PBsjyxA9I/AAAAAAAACbQ/JrVNu84ODh0/s1600-h/haul3%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img alt="haul3" border="0" height="372" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-rZorbbTDg4I/T9PBtDYYiDI/AAAAAAAACbY/8M9zo3c_Hgc/haul3_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="haul3" width="484" /></a><br />
Again these are off the wishlist, plus I haven’t been in the CCO in ages and it actually had some good bits. L-R – Lipsticks in Hue and Innocence Beware, Mineralize Skin Finish in Lightscapade<br />

And I was checking out Feel Unique and I think it was the first time ever that I had ££ and that the two items I wanted were in stock<br />

I understand that 99% of my final notes are about food but I found these in the tiny American food store near me. They sell them in a pub I frequent back home but this was a big ol’ bag and they are spicy as hell! If you see them and don’t mind a bit of spice give them a bash! I’m defo going back for more!<br />

Look at the flakies in Sweet Tart!! This was probably a little OTT for work so I applied sparingly! The way I look at it is that I’m not allowed crazy colour hair or mad piercings for work so why not go wild with lips!? <br />
I hope you like, I’ll do a favourite lipstick/gloss post soon to look at my faves in a little more detail<br />

My parents came down yesterday so we spent the day wandering round in the (quite) nice weather before taking in a delicious Italian meal at a great restaurant down the road! Bliss. Today has been spent with a little more shopping (yay!) and now jacket potatoes are in the oven and I have Fabulous magazine next to me. All is well.</p> <p>I’ve been keeping up the ‘wear a different lipstick a day’ task and haven’t posted for ages with an update so there’s a few! Today is a bit of a lazy post I’m afraid, him indoors and I have just arrived back home from visiting his family in Yorkshire so have had a gruelling drive! Modern Family catch up in my dressing gown with a face mask I think…<br />
I’ve used up a few products lately and thought I’d do a quick post so I can chuck the empty bottles and they aren’t cluttering up our tiny flat! <br />
<a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-2l_JR9LyNqk/T7QRvh_J0PI/AAAAAAAACSU/e7HOsUNMfYg/s1600-h/Empties%25255B7%25255D.jpg"><img alt="Empties" border="0" height="392" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-JEPpToP8IW8/T7QRwUVapLI/AAAAAAAACSY/kugSg1CnHZY/Empties_thumb%25255B4%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="Empties" width="243" /></a><br />
I picked this up when I was in France last summer – it wasn’t cheap at around €10 for this 250ml bottle. I could of got it cheaper elsewhere but I stupidly grabbed it the first place I saw it. <br />
I did really like this. You hardly need to use any so it lasted a while – negating the price for me. I used it to remove eye-makeup before taking the rest of my makeup off with Superdrug’s Vitamin E Hot Cloth Cleanser. So far so good…<br />
Except I read <a href="http://www.thesundaygirl.com/2012/05/monthly-empties-april-part-two.html">The Sunday Girl’s post</a> that says this is tested on animals. For this reason I’m thinking of picking up Une’s Micellar Water as featured in <a href="http://www.productpixie.com/2012/04/une-micellar-carpet-cleansing-water.html">Product Pixie’s post</a>. <br />
<a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-S4IPeDXJxn0/T7QRxCqT8lI/AAAAAAAACSk/SSlYuxakGA4/s1600-h/empties2%25255B6%25255D.jpg"><img alt="empties2" border="0" height="417" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-ycWwj4jLw_Q/T7QRx2z666I/AAAAAAAACSs/LXhHsPspLEo/empties2_thumb%25255B3%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="empties2" width="245" /></a> <a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-Chz1c7yHM9c/T7QRywvSxCI/AAAAAAAACSw/8zqo9LmWZ88/s1600-h/empties3%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img alt="empties3" border="0" height="370" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-xFC4E9QePkg/T7QRzlLTPCI/AAAAAAAACS4/0ze5Ba3e5nM/empties3_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="empties3" width="350" /></a><br />
Superdrug Vitamin E Hot Cloth Cleanser – I got this back in January when we first moved into the flat and were skint! My Liz Earle ran out and I had read plenty about this. At the time it was on a crazy offer of 2 for £5.99 and this is the end of my first one. <br />
I really like this, it removes all my makeup, is fine on my eyes and leaves my skin soft. My only concern is it says it is for normal to dry skin and come the summer my skin will be anything but dry! If it does cause any problems I will most likely switch back to Liz Earle but for the moment this is a perfect alternative. <br />
I don’t need to repurchase just yet – I have another one in the bathroom cupboard!<br />
<a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-tLoXBMdNK1I/T7QR0SiiekI/AAAAAAAACTE/7kByGgk4PqY/s1600-h/empties5%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img alt="empties5" border="0" height="411" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-NFeEXOVnTRc/T7QR1V0Ba7I/AAAAAAAACTI/VGDZ8_Mfw9Q/empties5_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="empties5" width="225" /></a><br />
Elemis Exotic Lime and Ginger Hand and Body Wash – I think this came with the last Feel Unique box. I usually scrimp a bit on shower gel – as long as it smells nice and doesn’t completely kill my skin I’m happy. While this smells nice and all the 300ml full size retails at £18.40 on <a href="http://www.timetospa.co.uk/bath-and-body/hands-and-feet/elemis-lime-and-ginger-hand-and-body-wash.aspx">Time To Spa</a>. At that price it won’t be a repurchase!<br />
<a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-Nu1tCCM8pzQ/T7QR2EZLmjI/AAAAAAAACTU/3MPvZGvY-FU/s1600-h/empties7%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img alt="empties7" border="0" height="396" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-01LsNpO0jYM/T7QR3P2fUcI/AAAAAAAACTY/WwoOkGsEwF8/empties7_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="empties7" width="241" /></a><br />
Philip Kingsley Elasticizer – This is another sample from the last Feel Unique box. I had wanted to try this for ages and was really excited to have a sample as the full size is <a href="http://www.philipkingsley.co.uk/hair-treatments/philip-kingsley-elasticizer.html">£26.25</a> – I would never be able to afford that at the moment. <br />
You use this before shampooing on wet hair, covering with a shower cap. I managed to get about 6 uses out of this and wore it for variable amounts – between 10 and 45 minutes. I hate to say it but I didn’t really feel a difference. I really hoped this would be amazing but alas :(<br />
<a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-Mtdto-cQ8Xs/T7QR4Ptd5hI/AAAAAAAACTk/t6M2-NLf4-0/s1600-h/empties8%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img alt="empties8" border="0" height="297" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-L6vqsAm3xk8/T7QR4yeSEjI/AAAAAAAACTs/1zOCTOiQDeA/empties8_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="empties8" width="359" /></a><br />
Pantene 2min Colour Damage Rescue Treatment Masque – Another product from a company that tests on animals dammit! The boy picked me this up in Asda once when I asked him to get me a cheap hair mask. I think this was around £2 at the time and it only retails for a few £ at full price.<br />
It lasted a good while and the lid of the tub pops up which is quite quirky. It did make my hair feel soft and silky – I used it on the ends of my hair when I was in the shower. <br />
It was good for the price but it’s tested on animals so I won’t be repurchasing.<br />
<br />
Bit of a mixed bag really! There are a few other things running low and I am hopefully working my way through some makeup products too…<br />
<br />
Have you used any of these products? Or do you have any recommendations?!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-789298785405867957.post-7558587912585675832012-05-13T12:57:00.000+01:002012-05-13T12:57:00.268+01:00Sparkly Nail LoveliesThat post title makes me feel a little like I am a blogger in Father Ted’s lovely girl contest. If you don’t know what I am talking about, I’m not mad. Just disappointed. Which everyone knows is a billion times worse.<br />
<br />
So despite not being able to wear nail varnish to work I am still purchasing with a feverish passion. I actually look forward to finishing work on a Friday so I can paint my nails. It used to be so I could sit down on the sofa but our sofa is hideously uncomfortable so it has been relegated to second most-favourite-thing-to-do-on-a-Friday-evening.<br />
<br />
Now I have a proper job I can afford all the pretties I wanted when I was working part time and spending all my spare ££ down the pub on Thatcher’s Gold. It was hard to miss the Essie Luxeffects collection on the blogs and my heart leapt when I saw A Cut Above.<br />
<br />
Fast forward to a few weeks ago and I decided I really should get around to purchasing. Locating this on the internet was like extracting blood from a stone but I finally tracked down a seller on Amazon. Too long a wait and one missing parcel later it arrived! Excelsior!<br />
<br />
But.<br />
<br />
In the meantime I had purchased another pretty. One that looked kind of similar to the much lusted after A Cut Above…<br />
<a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-6VanS6FON6c/T6z-hVVHTbI/AAAAAAAACQs/RXJqDw4bwfM/s1600-h/nailcomp%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img alt="nailcomp" border="0" height="428" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-BpsOQAZ0_uk/T6z-iWXQ1NI/AAAAAAAACQ0/lGkcV50k7VQ/nailcomp_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="nailcomp" width="394" /></a><br />
Yes. Another rose gold glitter polish. Revlon’s Sparkling.<br />
<a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-sVqr74GiVsM/T6z-jiF_O1I/AAAAAAAACQ8/COP9dyHC7rc/s1600-h/nailcomp1%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img alt="nailcomp1" border="0" height="318" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-QFy1Zp0PRD8/T6z-kq9wC3I/AAAAAAAACRA/PlQrCvHp-bU/nailcomp1_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="nailcomp1" width="413" /></a><br />
<a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-9hj4JuAAMYk/T6z-leeiJmI/AAAAAAAACRM/Y4uP8Lk6cik/s1600-h/nailcomp2%25255B6%25255D.jpg"><img alt="nailcomp2" border="0" height="333" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-Nki7_n5Lwvs/T6z-mV0c9CI/AAAAAAAACRU/finaFqY5zK0/nailcomp2_thumb%25255B3%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="nailcomp2" width="419" /></a><br />
So you can see the similarities. They are both rose goldy glitters, pretty much the same shade and with hexagonal glitter along with standard glitter particles.<br />

You can see Essie’s polish has more hexagonal glitter while Revlon’s is more sparse. They are very similar in colour though. This is two coats.<br />

This is the most true to colour I could get<br />
<a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/--oZFy-1LV_Y/T6z-sbifnHI/AAAAAAAACR8/FYCZ7pFo5fk/s1600-h/nailcomp7%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img alt="nailcomp7" border="0" height="303" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-_dJEBf8naAI/T6z-taVZL9I/AAAAAAAACSE/BqRKgHGCL-A/nailcomp7_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="nailcomp7" width="535" /></a><br />
Essie’s is definitely more rosy in colour, the Revlon’s glitter can appear silver in some lights but the overall effect is a similar shade.<br />
Essie’s formula is thicker so it is easier to get more hexagonal glitter on your nail in one swipe but it does mean you can have bald patches in some areas and loads of pooling glitter in others (see my little finger!)<br />
<br />
I love the hexagonal glitter and that is primarily what drew me to this polish so I personally prefer the Essie but the Revlon can be built up so a similar effect and it is still a gorgeous shade, not to mention more accessible! It’s maybe not a total dupe but a good very similar alternative.<br />
<br />
The Essie polish cost me around £8 excluding postage from an Amazon seller. I will not link to them however as I was not 100% happy with their service. Revlon polishes retail for around £6.50 or so and are available in Boots, Superdrug and other usual suspects.<br />
<br />
What do you think? I love me a good dupe, I’m going to paw through my lipstick collection and try and find some too!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-789298785405867957.post-41390046588265165022012-05-11T12:08:00.000+01:002012-05-11T12:08:56.559+01:00Things I Can’t Live Without: DreiTonight I am working another night shift and last night I worked a late shift. So today is for lying in and general laziness yes? No. I got woken up at around 10am by two men on my doorstep wanting to talk about God. To be fair to them, when I answered the door in my dressing gown with a face like thunder when I realised they weren’t the postman bearing gifts they retreated pretty quickly. Believe in what you want to believe in, just don’t knock on my door in the morning when I am working nights to discuss it. <br />
So I tried to get back to sleep and couldn’t so decided to do something productive. Pack for my weekend away? No, blog more like.<br />
So here is something I have been meaning to post about for ages <br />
<a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-g5RGa0McNas/T6zy3oPNRoI/AAAAAAAACP4/7jjUTwo8G8Y/s1600-h/bbthick%25255B6%25255D.jpg"><img alt="bbthick" border="0" height="486" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-FpWGwh-n7rM/T6zy4lO3JCI/AAAAAAAACQA/6sVIeQXVLQ0/bbthick_thumb%25255B3%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="bbthick" width="288" /></a><br />
I have talked/whinged about my hair many a time. It’s fine, limp and generally crap. I can’t even say ‘it’s fine but there’s a lot of it’ like people do, because that would be a lie. In short I want thick luxurious hair that behaves itself without having to do any of the work/spend any of the ££ that would be required.<br />
Bumble & Bumble Thickening Hairspray pretty much does that for me for a good price in return. <br />
<a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-9dFc5SM8B0Y/T6zy6eweyrI/AAAAAAAACQI/X5QixliPcT4/s1600-h/bbthick1%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img alt="bbthick1" border="0" height="384" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-DTZvfHoS4nI/T6zy7ijID_I/AAAAAAAACQQ/2hgeSlE3NMc/bbthick1_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="bbthick1" width="272" /></a><br />
It really does do what it says on the bottle. I’ve tried <em>many </em>thickening products throughout the years and this is the one I’ve most consistently repurchased, this must be my fourth or fifth bottle? And it lasts for ages, I’ve been using it fairly consistently for the last seven years or so when I could only find it in Selfridge’s. The first time I tried to buy it I remember being devastated when I went to watch One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest at the Gielgud with my Dad and Selfridge’s had sold out. First world problems or what?!<br />
<a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-tzpcEQKk17s/T6zy8kNjwqI/AAAAAAAACQY/MCmCGTcCAjk/s1600-h/bbthick2%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img alt="bbthick2" border="0" height="441" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-QqtJyR4UKKU/T6zy9pDxUTI/AAAAAAAACQc/Okpu-yDkKGg/bbthick2_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="bbthick2" width="295" /></a><br />
FLASH! (Ahhhaaaaaa) The fine-spray nozzle actually produces a fine spray from the off and distributes itself nicely. I use probably 6 or 7 sprays in total for a average day, more when I’m going out, and that provides nice everyday volume. It doesn’t weigh hair down or feel crispy. If it ever has felt a bit crispy where I’ve overapplied/not got that area with the hairdryer, I just brush it through and it feels the same as the rest of my hair. Silky, smooth and volumised.<br />
I honestly can’t say a bad word about this product! It’s a little on the expensive side but it lasts for so long it negates that. I don’t think there is any beauty product I own that I have bought as consistently as this.<br />
The most accessible place on the high street to get this is <a href="http://uk.spacenk.com/Thickening-Spray/MUK102490009,en_GB,pd.html?start=3&cgid=SPUK101&prefn1=brand&prefv1=BUMBLE%20%26%20BUMBLE">SpaceNK</a> where it retails for £20.50 but it is also available from many online retailers. I got this particular bottle on <a href="http://www.blogger.com/www.buyapowa.com">Buyapowa</a> for a tenner though so keep an eye out!<br />
Have you used this? Or do you have any recommendations for any other thickening hair bizzles?Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0
