I’m a daredevil–attempting fake lashes
Anyang!
I have been watching Arrested Development and supposedly that is hello in Korean but who knows! I love that show.
I thought I’d do something a little more exciting today rather than the same old reviews, lets see how this goes down!
I have used fake eyelashes twice before, both Kimberley and Nadine Girls Aloud ones. I like them and did get on OK with them but some times I needed to do a little colouring in with eyeliner so you couldn’t see the band. I figured I don’t seem to have any other skills, why not applying eyelashes? So I got some fake lashes off of eBay, they were like a quid or something just for me to practice with. When I went to Sally’s and got all the polish I also got a tube of Duo eyelash glue as it was cheaper than I’ve seen it a lot of places, and some Ardell eyelashes which I am keeping for a night out/my graduation, I want bambi lashes in those pics!
There are ten pairs, I was tempted to get some of better quality but I will do that when I actually have occasions to wear them! Right now I’ve got some of these on and I’m watching Lewis, hardly necessary right? For going out I prefer ones that go from short to long, I really like the look of these with a little winged liner.
I stuck these on with the clear Duo glue putting them in place with tweezers.
For a first practice I don’t think this is too bad, the placement isn’t great along the lashline but I couldn’t really tell until I saw this picture, in real life it didn’t look that bad.
They fell a little tranny on me but hey ho, for a pound I’m happy. On my eyes I am wearing…..
MAC Painterly paint pot, Stila eyeshadow in Wheat, Persimmon and Redstone from the Sleek Paraguaya palette, No7 Gel Eyeliner in Black and Urban Decay Glide-On pencil in Zero on the upper waterline. I curled my lashes and applied a tiny bit of Lancome Hypnose Precious Cells mascara.
The rest of my makeup…
I am wearing Revlon PhotoReady Compact makeup, Bobbi Brown Concealer, Accessorize Bronzer in Monaco, Sleek Contour Kit in Light, Sleek Pan Tao blusher, Prestige Mineral Bronzer in Pure Shimmer, No7 Poppy King lipstick in Allure and Sleek Pout polish in Sugar May.
My makeup is a bit of a mess as I wanted to catch it before the light went which is why these photos aren’t great. I always forget that in summer the sun sets so quickly! I also was pretty scared of the blusher when I got it, it isn’t really visible here but it does leave a nice flush, it’s not neon at all!
What do you think? Have you mastered the art of applying lashes? I really wish I had more occasions to wear them to, I really feel ‘glammed up’ (hate that expression!) when I’ve got them on. That and a bit of fake tan. I sound like I belong on The Only Way Is Essex…..
OPI DS dupe?
Arrrgh right now I am in the throes of a nail varnish addiction. And blusher. But that’s besides the point.
Such is the extent of my addiction that I come home with shades only to realise that I already have something similar. Or exactly the same.
First of all, meet OPI DS Magic…
This is three coats. I apologise for the state of this, this was on day 5 so it is actually pretty good for me! It lasted well with minor chips until day 4 then on day 5 it began to fall apart so I’m happy with that. I applied it at my boyfriends and it did strike me as familiar. When I got home I had a look through my collection annnnddd
I have two other similar colours. On the nails…
So. The Revlon polish is clearly different on the nail but the Accessorize…..
In my opinion that is a dupe. I had a reaaally close look and the only real difference I can see is that the Accessorize polish leans pink in certain lights more obviously than the OPI where the pink is very subtle. Other than that, nada. As far as application goes there was no issue with any of these other than the Revlon’s drying time which was waaay longer than Accessorize.
Do you consider this a dupe? I’ve never declared a duplicate before, is there anything else I need to consider? I think I’m going to have to call it quits on the navy/blue polish front for a while!
NOTD–OPI DS Coronation
Hiya guys, I hope your week is going OK!
Just to let you know posts may be a little fewer and far between for the next few weeks, I’ve got a dissertation and another assignment to finish and I want to plough through and get it out of the way! I do have a few posts to work on but I won’t have the time to do as much as I’d like….
Anyway onwards and upwards, this is a beauty I got a few weeks back. I just took a shedload of pictures so enjoy…
Wow. I love this. Although its a silver holo it seems different from GOSH’s offer. Application is certainly better, this is three coats but there was none of the streaky mess that comes with GOSH. I do have both so I will do a comparison at some point.
Just LOVE thats all there is to it!
What do you think? Do you have any recommendations for holos? I’m totally addicted!!!!

NOTD–Kiko Nail Lacquer 267
Bonjour ladies! How are you all?
Just a quick one today, this is a NOTD from two weeks ago. Another of the Kiko polishes…..
This is the polish I was a bit underwhelmed with at first sight but wearing it is a totally different story! It compliments my skin tone, something that I am not that bothered about but my, when something goes it really pops! I can safely say that I do not have another blue like this in my collection and I am a sucker for them!
This was three coats, though I could have probably managed with two. I always paint thin coats as I smudge my nails so easily but it does mean more coats than the average bear, especially on my right hand.
I got 3 days wear out of this, it did chip the day after I painted them but I was cleaning out my car and it’s a miracle that I didn’t lost a limb at the least. Not a broken nail in sight either, praise be to OPI Nail Envy!
I’ve harped on about this nail varnish enough for one day. If you are in Italy or someone you know is, everything I have from Kiko has been good. The formula of this polish was better than the other two, maybe as this is a shimmer? I don’t know but the other two weren’t bad either. Definitely worth checking out if you have the opportunity.
Are you a lover of blue polish? Or a strictly lady like pink wearer? Let me know, I’m curious!

NOTD–Orly Hottie
Nails nails nails…. I have been getting a little excited with nail varnish as of late. I now own too many and I am trying to curb this dangerous habit.
However.
It was announced many weeks ago now that mid-March time Orly Mini’s would be appearing in Boots stores and online. I only own one Orly polish, Halley’s Comet and would quite like a few more. I found the stand in my local big Boots finally around a week after the announced store launch date. I know that isn’t bad but I was antsy to get a look at these and online swatches are atrocious, especially on the Boots site.
Originally I could have taken home almost all of the polishes I saw but sense prevailed and I whittled it down to three. The one I was most excited about was Hottie, a neon pink.
I have no idea what is on my index finger nail. Knowing me, it’s probably Wotsit residue.
From looking at the bottle this was either going to be a ten coater or a one coat wonder. Hm. This is 4 coats later and you can still see visible nail line clearly! Not so bad here but in real life it was most distressing. However to it’s credit it applied nicely even with the miniature brush and drying time was fantastic so the layers weren’t exactly a pain in the arse.
I managed to chip three nails on my left hand while fannying about so I figured I’d layer it over a white polish and see how different it looked.
So I have Hottie layered over 17 Mini Skirt on my index, middle and ring fingers, two coats of each. On my little finger is 4 coats of Hottie alone.
Wow. This is part of the hi-liters mini collection and they weren’t joking. In real life this is like I have drawn over tipp-ex nail varnish with a highlighter. I do prefer the colour of Hottie alone but I detest the nail line! Is there a compromise anywhere?
I got this from Boots where these are £5 for 5ml. That is a lot, especially compared to the amount you get with a Models Own polish for the same price. That being said, if there is a shade you like it still is only £5 and no-one ever uses a whole nail varnish. The closest I got was with a Mavala one and it welded itself shut with varnish before I could get the last bit out and now I can’t find it! Tears! But seriously, if anyone ever sees Mavala ‘Magic’ polish let me know!!!!
So will you be nabbing any Orly or sticking to your trusty faves? I’m glad brands that are available widely in the US are becoming available here but I can’t help but notice the appalling difference in price between the countries! For almost everything! Honestly, Batiste is about the only thing that is cheaper here. Boo.
Anyway what did you think to Hottie? Definitely a summer shade!!
Empty! Garnier Hydralock Hand Cream
I don’t know if I said this before but instead of a post at the end of the month/whatever with all the products I’ve used I thought I’d just do it as and when I use them if that is ok? Let me know if you prefer a bulk post! I just tried to do this before and found a stash of empty tubs that I forgot about!
I just finished this today and thought I’d chuck my thoughts on t’interweb as I don’t really think you see much about hand cream on blogs? I may be wrong and just skim past those posts though!
As I’ve said before, I am really tough on my hands. While I am on placement I have to wash my hands between each patient and this will be the case when I qualify and get a job which will hopefully be soon! Although I realise this is necessary it leaves my hands in a total mess. The standard hospital ‘moisturiser’ really isn’t so I need something hardcore to handle my hands! Could this rise to the challenge?
Ha! It looks odd because it’s been bent back and forth to get every last bit out! Can it handle my lizard hands? Um. It sinks in quickly, you don’t need much to give a good covering so it’s lasted a while and it does make my hands feel comfortable again. However, it does not live up to it’s 24 hour hydration claim. I haven’t been on placement since December and at the moment my hands are in a pretty good state but I still need this a few times a day to get rid of any tightness. It also does not wash through a hand wash. I suppose one could argue if you wash thoroughly it should remove all traces from your hands. Some hand creams I have used have still kept my hands soft after washing so they did not require an immediate re-application. Not the case with this one.
All in all? This is a good moisturiser. I have crazy dry hands so if yours are average to even pretty dry this should sort you out. For those with old lady hands at the age of 23 (me!!!!) you may need something a little more heavyweight.
This is £3.36 on the Boots website but it is available from all the usual suspects…..
Do you have any recommendations for the Hulk Hogan of hand creams? I’m going to need one before I start full time work!
