JadeyLou Initiative Dos–Lip Glosses

Hello!
As promised after yesterdays mammoth post here are the glosses I’ve worn these past few weeks…
1lg
Topshop Polish Top – Bottom Coral, Smoothie, Melba..please excuse the state of them!
L-R Bourjois Effet 3D in 20, MAC Lipglass in Silly Girl, MAC Superglass in Sweet Tart, Sleek Pout Polish in Sugar May
1lg1
1lg2
Coral, Smoothie, Melba
1lg3
20, Silly Girl, Sweet Tart, Sugar May
Look at the flakies in Sweet Tart!! This was probably a little OTT for work so I applied sparingly! The way I look at it is that I’m not allowed crazy colour hair or mad piercings for work so why not go wild with lips!?
I hope you like, I’ll do a favourite lipstick/gloss post soon to look at my faves in a little more detail
Have a good week x

JadeyLou Initiative Dos–Lipsticks

Hello ladies are you having a good weekend? My parents came down yesterday so we spent the day wandering round in the (quite) nice weather before taking in a delicious Italian meal at a great restaurant down the road! Bliss. Today has been spent with a little more shopping (yay!) and now jacket potatoes are in the oven and I have Fabulous magazine next to me. All is well.

I’ve been keeping up the ‘wear a different lipstick a day’ task and haven’t posted for ages with an update so there’s a few! I’ll split in into lipstick and glosses posts to help a little!

First up, the pink lipsticks

Empties!!

Happy hump day! Today is a bit of a lazy post I’m afraid, him indoors and I have just arrived back home from visiting his family in Yorkshire so have had a gruelling drive! Modern Family catch up in my dressing gown with a face mask I think…
I’ve used up a few products lately and thought I’d do a quick post so I can chuck the empty bottles and they aren’t cluttering up our tiny flat!
Empties
I picked this up when I was in France last summer – it wasn’t cheap at around €10 for this 250ml bottle. I could of got it cheaper elsewhere but I stupidly grabbed it the first place I saw it.
I did really like this. You hardly need to use any so it lasted a while – negating the price for me. I used it to remove eye-makeup before taking the rest of my makeup off with Superdrug’s Vitamin E Hot Cloth Cleanser. So far so good…
Except I read The Sunday Girl’s post that says this is tested on animals. For this reason I’m thinking of picking up Une’s Micellar Water as featured in Product Pixie’s post.
empties2       empties3
Superdrug Vitamin E Hot Cloth Cleanser – I got this back in January when we first moved into the flat and were skint! My Liz Earle ran out and I had read plenty about this. At the time it was on a crazy offer of 2 for £5.99 and this is the end of my first one.
I really like this, it removes all my makeup, is fine on my eyes and leaves my skin soft. My only concern is it says it is for normal to dry skin and come the summer my skin will be anything but dry! If it does cause any problems I will most likely switch back to Liz Earle but for the moment this is a perfect alternative.
I don’t need to repurchase just yet – I have another one in the bathroom cupboard!
empties5
Elemis Exotic Lime and Ginger Hand and Body Wash – I think this came with the last Feel Unique box. I usually scrimp a bit on shower gel – as long as it smells nice and doesn’t completely kill my skin I’m happy. While this smells nice and all the 300ml full size retails at £18.40 on Time To Spa. At that price it won’t be a repurchase!
empties7
Philip Kingsley Elasticizer – This is another sample from the last Feel Unique box. I had wanted to try this for ages and was really excited to have a sample as the full size is £26.25 – I would never be able to afford that at the moment.
You use this before shampooing on wet hair, covering with a shower cap. I managed to get about 6 uses out of this and wore it for variable amounts – between 10 and 45 minutes. I hate to say it but I didn’t really feel a difference. I really hoped this would be amazing but alas :(
empties8
Pantene 2min Colour Damage Rescue Treatment Masque – Another product from a company that tests on animals dammit! The boy picked me this up in Asda once when I asked him to get me a cheap hair mask. I think this was around £2 at the time and it only retails for a few £ at full price.
It lasted a good while and the lid of the tub pops up which is quite quirky. It did make my hair feel soft and silky – I used it on the ends of my hair when I was in the shower.
It was good for the price but it’s tested on animals so I won’t be repurchasing.

Bit of a mixed bag really! There are a few other things running low and I am hopefully working my way through some makeup products too…

Have you used any of these products? Or do you have any recommendations?!

Sparkly Nail Lovelies

That post title makes me feel a little like I am a blogger in Father Ted’s lovely girl contest. If you don’t know what I am talking about, I’m not mad. Just disappointed. Which everyone knows is a billion times worse.

So despite not being able to wear nail varnish to work I am still purchasing with a feverish passion. I actually look forward to finishing work on a Friday so I can paint my nails. It used to be so I could sit down on the sofa but our sofa is hideously uncomfortable so it has been relegated to second most-favourite-thing-to-do-on-a-Friday-evening.

Now I have a proper job I can afford all the pretties I wanted when I was working part time and spending all my spare ££ down the pub on Thatcher’s Gold. It was hard to miss the Essie Luxeffects collection on the blogs and my heart leapt when I saw A Cut Above.

Fast forward to a few weeks ago and I decided I really should get around to purchasing. Locating this on the internet was like extracting blood from a stone but I finally tracked down a seller on Amazon. Too long a wait and one missing parcel later it arrived! Excelsior!

But.

In the meantime I had purchased another pretty. One that looked kind of similar to the much lusted after A Cut Above…
nailcomp
Yes. Another rose gold glitter polish. Revlon’s Sparkling.
nailcomp1
nailcomp2
So you can see the similarities. They are both rose goldy glitters, pretty much the same shade and with hexagonal glitter along with standard glitter particles.
nailcomp4
You can see Essie’s polish has more hexagonal glitter while Revlon’s is more sparse. They are very similar in colour though. This is two coats.
nailcomp5
This is the most true to colour I could get
nailcomp7
Essie’s is definitely more rosy in colour, the Revlon’s glitter can appear silver in some lights but the overall effect is a similar shade.
Essie’s formula is thicker so it is easier to get more hexagonal glitter on your nail in one swipe but it does mean you can have bald patches in some areas and loads of pooling glitter in others (see my little finger!)

I love the hexagonal glitter and that is primarily what drew me to this polish so I personally prefer the Essie but the Revlon can be built up so a similar effect and it is still a gorgeous shade, not to mention more accessible! It’s maybe not a total dupe but a good very similar alternative.

The Essie polish cost me around £8 excluding postage from an Amazon seller. I will not link to them however as I was not 100% happy with their service. Revlon polishes retail for around £6.50 or so and are available in Boots, Superdrug and other usual suspects.

What do you think? I love me a good dupe, I’m going to paw through my lipstick collection and try and find some too!

Things I Can’t Live Without: Drei

Tonight I am working another night shift and last night I worked a late shift. So today is for lying in and general laziness yes? No. I got woken up at around 10am by two men on my doorstep wanting to talk about God. To be fair to them, when I answered the door in my dressing gown with a face like thunder when I realised they weren’t the postman bearing gifts they retreated pretty quickly. Believe in what you want to believe in, just don’t knock on my door in the morning when I am working nights to discuss it.
So I tried to get back to sleep and couldn’t so decided to do something productive. Pack for my weekend away? No, blog more like.
So here is something I have been meaning to post about for ages
bbthick
I have talked/whinged about my hair many a time. It’s fine, limp and generally crap. I can’t even say ‘it’s fine but there’s a lot of it’ like people do, because that would be a lie. In short I want thick luxurious hair that behaves itself without having to do any of the work/spend any of the ££ that would be required.
Bumble & Bumble Thickening Hairspray pretty much does that for me for a good price in return.
bbthick1
It really does do what it says on the bottle. I’ve tried many thickening products throughout the years and this is the one I’ve most consistently repurchased, this must be my fourth or fifth bottle? And it lasts for ages, I’ve been using it fairly consistently for the last seven years or so when I could only find it in Selfridge’s. The first time I tried to buy it I remember being devastated when I went to watch One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest at the Gielgud with my Dad and Selfridge’s had sold out. First world problems or what?!
bbthick2
FLASH! (Ahhhaaaaaa) The fine-spray nozzle actually produces a fine spray from the off and distributes itself nicely. I use probably 6 or 7 sprays in total for a average day, more when I’m going out, and that provides nice everyday volume. It doesn’t weigh hair down or feel crispy. If it ever has felt a bit crispy where I’ve overapplied/not got that area with the hairdryer, I just brush it through and it feels the same as the rest of my hair. Silky, smooth and volumised.
I honestly can’t say a bad word about this product! It’s a little on the expensive side but it lasts for so long it negates that. I don’t think there is any beauty product I own that I have bought as consistently as this.
The most accessible place on the high street to get this is SpaceNK where it retails for £20.50 but it is also available from many online retailers. I got this particular bottle on Buyapowa for a tenner though so keep an eye out!
Have you used this? Or do you have any recommendations for any other thickening hair bizzles?

Blusher Switch Up 2–The Cream Side

Oh herrow! I got home from my night shift, slept till 12 and have been (vaguely) awake since!
As promised these are the cream blushes I have worn over the last two weeks…
2Blush
Ermmm I didn’t take a picture of the outside of these together so here is the collective blusher picture.
3blushNeonRose
Topshop Neon Rose – If you haven’t already checked out Topshop’s makeup I really urge you to especially their lipsticks and blushers. The formulation is great and to use a god awful phrase, they are cheap as chips! As a side note where is David Dickinson these days? His mahogany ass seemed to drop off the face of the earth.
3blushLadyblush
MAC Blushcreme Ladyblush – My first MAC blusher. I love this, it is understated, allowing me to go a little wilder with my lipstick, but still makes me look put together. This is the old formulation, I know they still do a shade called Ladyblush in their new Cremeblend formulation but I’m not sure it’s the same as this one.
3blushFucshia
Stila Convertible Colour Fuschia – I got this in a blog sale and didn’t wear it for aggges, the colour petrified me. Used lightly this is really pretty and not too mad for work.
3blushSouthStSeashell
NYC Blushable Creme Stick South St Seashell – I got this off eBay ages ago. Again it’s really understated and ideal for when I want to wear a crazier lip colour. I wish these would come to the UK!!
3blushBlossomingPink
No7 Blossoming Pink – This was limited edition from a few months ago – however I have seen items from this collection fairly recently in some Boots. As soon as I saw this on the blogs I knew I’d have to have it!
I3blushMandarinFizz
Kiko Waterblush Mandarin Fizz – I have no idea if Kiko still make this as my parents got it for me in Rome last year. This is a liquid blush and though it doesn’t seem that pigmented at first it builds up well – it’s easy to go overboard with this
Swatchessss
3blushswatch
L-R Neon Rose, Ladyblush, Fuschia
3blushswaTCH2
South St Seashell, Blossoming Pink, Mandarin Fizz unblended
3blushswatch4
Mandarin Fizz unblended and blended. And my veiny wrist sorry!
I hope you liked this, I know swatch posts can be a bit crap but if you’ve been on the fence about something or looking for a bit of information I hope I help!
A few snippets from this week…
collaga
I have no idea what Fluffer is attempting here. And yes that’s a Daily Mail. I despair of my parents at times.//Mountain Dew White Out from the American food shop. Om nom.//Rolo in a bar!?

Blusher Switch Up 2–Return Of The Rosy Cheeked

Happy Saturday! I hope you are all having a relaxing weekend. Tonight is my first night shift (yikes!) and Sod’s law I woke up at 9am unable to even doze for a few hours. I don’t start work till 6pm, to say I’m not looking forward to it is a gross understatement!
I have carried on with this blusher initiative, the first post about this is here. I did intend to post this weekly but working like a mother and a crazy dash home for my brother’s 21st have got in the way!
2Blush
As I have been working like a mother there are a motherload of blushers. 6 powder, 6 cream. I’ll post the cream products tomorrow to save this being a horrendously long post!
2blush1
2blushdeepthroat
Nars Deep Throat – What the hell is with that name! Him indoors was gobsmacked when I told him what it was called! Dah well, beautiful colour. One of my faves.
2blushpantao
Sleek Pan Tao – Limited edition from last year but I think it resembles Life’s A Peach also by Sleek. I would have done comparison swatches but I left Life’s A Peach at home. Also yes that is my dressing gown/90s Cardiff Devils Ice Hockey top in the background. Weekends are for sleepwear!
2blushrosegold
Sleek Rose Gold – Found this after what felt like a lifetime of hunting! Maaad pigmented.
2blushberry
Laura Geller Berry – I got this in a QVC kit I ordered over a month ago and this is my first time using it. It’s crazily pigmented. Not normally my kind of colour but it was ok. Maybe it will be a grower not a shower…
2blushpeachesandcream
Vivo Peaches And Cream – There was a lot of hype about Vivo products on the blogs so I was definitely tempted to try something…not that it takes much. I have only worn this a few times but it was nice and lasted well.
2blushpop
Topshop Pop – Last but not least, a relatively new addition to my collection and I can’t stop wearing it! Hence the need for a blusher rotation initiative. If you see this, swatch and you will love.
2blushswatch
L-R Deep Throat, Pan Tao, Rose Gold
2blushswatch1
Berry, Peaches and Cream, Pop
Hope you like these!
As I mentioned earlier I went home for literally about 24 hours and the first thing I did was…
bunnywunny
Speak you tomorrow!
