NOTD–OPI Russian Navy Suede

Hi guys! Another long wochenende….got any good plans?

This was an eBay buy from a good while ago, it just took ages for me to get it on my nails! I’m not sure why as I’m a sucker for these blue shades. I’ve been really good lately with buying less makeup with the exception of the Sleek lippies and a Revlon Colorburst gloss that I’m yet to even put on…how bad is that?! Makeup junkie fo sho.

I don’t know what the regular Russian Navy looks like but the shimmer is really pretty in this. It stops it looking like a flat matte. It looked even more amazing with a top coat on it (making it shiny) but stupidly I didn’t take any pictures. That being said it won’t take me long to crack this one out again! It does say on a label attached to the bottle that it won’t wear as well as regular polishes due to the ‘suede’ effect but I had it on for two days before adding topcoat with no issues, practically a miracle for regular polish let alone one thats not meant to wear as well.

I didn’t pay RRP for this, I can’t remember what I did pay though. I would still buy this for RRP in a heartbeat though, it is truly stunning shiny and I am gutted I didn’t photograph it!!!!!!!!!!!

What do you think? Have you tried many of the different effects OPI do? Do you have any recommendations for any OPI shades?

NOTD & Grey Nail Comparison

Arf I need more imaginative post titles…

I find that I am more of a fiend for blue, grey and bright polishes rather than the taupes that people go wild for. As I was perusing Asos’ beauty section for any potential bargains I spotted Lucerne-tainly Look Marvellous from OPI’s Swiss Collection last year on sale for £5.63. I have this in my collection in mini form and have worn it once so I thought I’d chuck it on and see if it was worth a big bottle purchase. Then I thought if any of you guys were considering it I would compare it to some of my other grey polishes.

I honestly thought I had more dark grey polishes than this but hey, I suppose it’s for the best that I don’t. Here I have Models Own’s Gun Grey on my index finger, the OPI on my middle and little fingers and Color Club’s Revvvolution on my ring finger.

GreyNailsGreyNails1GreyNails3

They all have different finishes, Models Own is a pearly shade, OPI is metallic shimmery and Color Club is a holo. Models Own is clearly a darker shade, appearing black in almost all of the photos I took. Color Club and OPI look more similar but in real life Color Club is much more of a dark grey whereas OPI is a silver grey.

These pictures are two coats each of Models Own and Color Club. They could have been left at one but I did two for opaqueness in case they photographed patchy. Lucerne-tainly Look Marvellous was a three coater, I was anticipating four but three just about did it….

Am I going to get a bigger bottle? No. I like it but I think I prefer Color Club’s Revvvolution. It is a nice colour but I don’t think it is particularly unique. That being said it is pretty much the same price as a Models Own polish if you get free delivery from Asos so if you don’t have anything like it give it a go by all means!

Sleek True Colour Lipsticks!!!!

Herrow!! I know these are something that have been on just about every blog lately and that kind of thing normally gets my goat a tad (Liz Earle?!?!) I know people get sent stuff around the same time and yeh it is nice to see a few different opinions but sometimes I would like to see something different.

However that time is not now. I saw these on a few blogs and on a trip so Superdrug saw them on 2 for £6 and I had been having a crap day so I got four! Certainly perked me up. When I was searching for swatches of these online people seemed to have the same ones or there weren’t very many so I thought I’d chuck mine in plus a few comparison swatches.

SleekTrueColour

I’ll admit it, some of them do look pretty similar. I can tell the difference though I swear! In reverse order…

SleekTrueColour1SleekTrueColour2

The light was fading fast so the pictures aren’t great but the ones that matter are true to colour. I ended up with three sheen formulas and one matte though that isn’t because of any preferences about the formula or anything, I just liked these swatches better.

First up is the matte, Papaya Punch

Peaches & Cream is one that has been seen on a few blogs. I meant to do a comparison against NYX Orange Soda as they remind me of each other but I couldn’t find it.

I don’t know how I feel about this one….maybe with lipgloss. I’ve not had a good chance to play yet but I will be trying my hardest to make this work, I love orange and peach!!!

Candy cane is the one I have worn the most so far…

And finally Coral Reef

Without a shadow of a doubt Candy Cane and Coral Reef are my favourites. The formula is ok, as you can see in the Papaya Punch pictures the matte formula shows every flaw! These pictures were taken after a quick lip scrub too!

SleekSwatches

You can see how dry the matte is in comparison!

Compared to some other lipstick swatches…

These are £4 each on the Sleek website but are currently 2 for £6 in Superdrug. for the price I really like these! If any more catch my eye I won’t hesitate to purchase!

Have you tried any? Do you have any recommendations?

FOTD–What I Wore to a Wedding

Hi guys!

I hope you had a lovely bank holiday weekend and have made best use of the days off….?

I went to a friends wedding on Saturday, just to the night do. I haven’t been to many weddings and this is the first time any of my friends has got married so I wasn’t sure what to expect. All of my best buds from school were going though and I knew the ciders would be flowing!

I was running REALLY late so I didn’t take any proper pictures of my makeup so these are quick snaps off facebook…..

WeddingMakeup8WeddingMakeup7

I am so unphotogenic it is unreal.

Moving on…

WeddingMakeupWeddingMakeup1

L-R Revlon Grow Luscious mascara, Topshop Neon Rose cream blusher, Urban Decay Naked palette, Duo lash glue, Ardell 120 wispies, Urban Decay Glide On pencil in Zero, Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection concealer in Light, Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliner in Granite Ink, Kiko brow marker in 2, Nars blusher in Deep Throat, Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation in 51, Benefit That Gal primer and Collection 2000 clear mascara. I missed a few bits, I used Benefit’s High Beam on my cheekbones, brow bone and down my nose and I used a light dusting of a Bare Minerals sample in Barely Light as powder just on my t-zone.

I like the Bourjois foundation, it isn’t usually my first choice as it is pretty yellow but I had fake tanned and it is the only foundation I own without SPF and I am pale enough without flash glare. I really like the Collection 2000 concealer, cheap and good coverage and again it hasn’t got SPF. I layered my blush but as you can see in the pictures I was probably a little too light handed! It also looks like I didn’t do my brows but before I left the house I looked like a tranny they were so big so I’m not sure what happened there!

WeddingMakeup6

I used Toasted on the lid, Hustle in the crease and Virgin as highlight. I roughly lined my eyes with the Zero pencil and went over it in Creep to help it stay.

I love those blushers combined. And separately. I just love blusher.

17 Sweet Kisses with Barry M Berry Ice Cream dotted.

These are my nails, again looking messy because I wanted to use my new dotting tools right before I was supposed to be getting picked up. I rolled it pastel to go with my dress, shoes and cardi. My nails are all short, the second I get stressed I regress back to my ten year old self and chew them all off. I know it’s bad but I actually cannot stop myself, literally I look down and they are gone. Sad times.

So what do you think? Do you have any tips for making makeup last longer? I need more nights like that with my buds and cider!
